I was part of a group of 30 people. We hired a guide to take us inside the cathedral and up to the bell tower. He charged us 30 lps per person. The visit took about an hour.

This was so interesting and fun to do. I loved the view from the top and of you time it right you can see the bells played.

Tiene que subir hasta la parte alta de la iglesia. Es camino es bien estrecho y bajo, solo es de subir con cuidado. Si no son hondureños, les aconsejo ir con guía que les explique la historia de Comayagua, la catedral y el los especial de ese reloj.

It was worth the trip walking up those stairs. The view was awesome and you'll notice the reflection of the church in the sidewalk. We didn't notice it until we looked down from the top of the bell tower. I think it was one or two dollars per person to go to the top. Also, there's a great restaurant/coffee place right next door.

Desde el 2009 el reloj más antiguo de América mide el tiempo de la mediocre dictadura nacionalista de Honduras. En sus tiempos de gloria este reloj de 910 años de antigüedad que fue construido en 1.100 por los moros, estaba colocado en La Alhambra de Sevilla, España.
Lo donó a Comayagua el rey Felipe III y desde 1715 está en la torre del templo católico hondureño. Este extraordinario reloj que a medido el tiempo de la caida de imperios, reyes, y dictadores, también será testigo incorruptible e inplacable de la próxima caida de la dictadura cachureca.

Fascinating old church with working clock from the 1600’s. Walking up the narrow stairs (watch your head) to the bell tower offers wonderful views of Como may agua. The cost is minimal. If you are fortunate enough to be up there on the hour you will be treated to quite a show as the local bell ringer attaches all the bell ropes to himself and performs a dance resulting in a cacophony of pealing bells. Cover your ears for sure.

Saber que estás frente al reloj más antiguo de América y que todavía funciona, es un momento especial. Creo que valdrá la pena pasar año nuevo por aquí pues según me comentan hacen eventos muy especiales en torno a este reloj tan antiguo y significativo.
