A very unique red Thai temple made of red clay.
Peaceful environment and the temple compound overlooks the sea. If you are a Buddhist, the serene environment is quiet for a quick prayer. 😄
The temple is just next to the main road so it's hard to miss. It's popular with the locals too, so parking may be hard at peak times.
There's also a small market opposite the temple where you can find good Thai street food.

There is no other temple on Samui that even comes close to how spectacular this place is. The red clay colour is already very striking, but the intricacy of the carving on both the interior and exterior of this temple is nothing short of amazing. It is a work of art that makes the Mona Lisa look like it should be in the bin! By all accounts this is a less visited temple but it's undoubtedly the finest and highly recommended. There are an array of other sculpted items in the grounds along with good views to the sea from its elevated position. A must-see during your visit to Koh Samui!

The place is currently under renovation. So the ceiling of the praying hall Ist covered sometime.
The Temple it self overs 3 Praying areas and the Iran you need to pray can be brought at the temple.
Entry fee is 20 Bath and you get a handmade fabric bracelet. The staff is very friends I also good a water and you can order some food mostly Thai food.
The renovation kind hindernyou to have a full experience but it’s nice to see how such a small temple gets renovation.
The terrace gets quieter hot keep that in mind since you are not allowed to wear shoes on it - respect the cbuddist culture!
All in all a little to focused on the airport but any aviation geek would have fun for sure. Nice views to chaweng also possible.
As a tourist 30minuten are enough
But if you wanna pray bringt more time.

Love it, this Wat Sila Ngu is picturesk due to the red clay color, no fee but you should dress properly and it's near the overlap stone 💕 Add to your list when you are planning for Koh Samui's trip!

This was probably one of the most unique temples I’ve seen in Thailand in a long time. The color is what’s most striking – practically the color of the red clay earth that covers many parts of the world, the entire temple (outside and in) is in this bright hue!
What’s even more striking, are the very very detailed carvings of Nagas (the 3 headed snakes outside the entrance) to the warriors with weapons inside.
When I visited, there was no one there except for 3-4 people who showed up a little after myself.
It’s not too big and doesn’t take too much time to see, so it’s certainly worth a short stop!

Очень интересное место для посещения на острове Самуи. Впечатляет красивым декором и размером. Снаружи кажется небольшим, а внутри большой. Вот такой парадокс.

Der Wat Sila Ngu Tempel ist einer der kleinsten und schönsten, die ich in Asien besucht hatte. Die wunderschönen Schnitzereien innen, mit so viel Liebe zum Detail sind wirklich faszinierend.

Loved the red clay temple at Wat Sila Ngu. The reliefs on the temple walls showing the life of Buddha are gorgeous and the artistry overall is quite amazing. The temple is also situated by the sea, adding to its serenity.
