Giới thiệu
Zó là doanh nghiệp xã hội với sứ mệnh bảo tồn và phát triển giấy Dó- một loại giấy thủ công truyền thống của Việt Nam. Xuất hiện tại Việt Nam vào thế kỷ thứ XIII, giấy Dó thành hình sau gần 100 công đoạn lớn nhỏ, nổi tiếng với sự bền dai và những đường vân tinh tế. Dù mang trong mình những giá trị văn hoá và lịch sử đầy bản sắc, giấy Dó đang đứng trước nguy cơ bị biến mất trong dòng chảy xiết của cuộc sống hiện đại. Zó mong muốn thổi hồn đương đại vào chất liệu giấy cổ xưa của dân tộc bằng việc thúc đấy sáng tạo các sản phẩm nghệ thuật mang tính ứng dụng cao, tổ chức các sự kiện lớp học đưa giấy Dó lại gần hơn với thế hệ trẻ. Từ đó Zó hi vọng đóng góp vào sự khởi sắc của những làng nghề thủ công truyền thống tại Việt Nam.

Stopped by on the last day of our trip to get gifts. What all the other reviews are saying still holds true as of the time of writing. The products (inter alia, notebooks, calendars, bookmarks, paper earrings, paper) are intricate and creative. There is also the tour of the paper making facility offered but we were unable to attend. Highly recommend. It is also situated on the train street, so you can plan your trip to coincide with the timing of the train. The lady managing the store also speaks fluent English so dont be afraid to ask her about the products. Great stuff.

I searched Trip Advisor to find creative little shops for unusual, "non-touristy" gifts to bring home from our visit to Hanoi, and was so glad that this was listed.
I purchased a number pretty paper earrings (with packaging as creative as the earrings, themselves); I wish I had known about the "earring classes" ahead of time - this will teach me to research my shopping on Trip Advisor before we arrive!
My husband is not a "shopper", but he was excited as I was to experience the VERY unique location of this shop: directly on an active railroad line! We were not there when the train went by (although we could certainly hear it from our nearby hotel at night), but I was able to find a postcard that showed just how close the train comes to the buildings - only a foot or two of clearance. It certainly must be exciting to witness, even with the train going very slowly for safety's sake!
I would definitely call this experience one of the highlights of our stay in Hanoi.

I came to Zó Project shop twice during my three-day visiting Hanoi. It’s when their new gift shop is still in a transitioning form from the old location by the train track to this new location on a small street right next to the Cathedral.
If you are interested in handmade papers, this is a must see. Check out this place when you visit Old Quarter.
There are different kinds of handcrafted small products to choose from. They also offer DIY workshop everyday at the Zó. This is the coolest thing: every two weeks or so, they will host a trip to the village where they actually make the papers. Don’t hesitate to ask the staff for more information. There is a fantastic group of young people (working at Zó) who will be happy to explain everything. Dó paper is beautiful even before you know the fascinating manual process of making them. I personally found the the whole project captivating. Everyone here is an artist in a way. They are not selling you gifts or handcrafted products. They are telling you stories of passion, of art making, and retaining a cultural heritage.

Today I attended an earring making workshop. It was brilliant!!!!! I’m earring obsessed and it was amazing making my own earrings from scratch. The teacher was helpful and patient with me, gave me a run down of the history of the material we used (paper from Northern Vietnam). I would definitely recommend if you’ve two hours to spare . The workshop was in a studio on train street which was cool too. Thanks for a brilliant day!

This was a really lovely way to spend some quiet time in the very busy city of Hanoi. our instructor was patient and very informative in letting us know about the tradition behind the making of Do Paper. She was also very accommodating. A very worthwhile experience, overall.

Zó project was by far the best part of our trip to Hanoi. This all-female led social enterprise is dedicated completely to preserving the ancient traditions of dó paper making and to supporting the muong village people. We had so much fun and felt like we were taking part in a much bigger experience. There was a workshop to suit all kinds of ages, and it was really atmospheric to sit on the railway line and make paper while the locals came by to watch and ask questions and share their own stories. The girls have done a great job of taking the traditional paper and turning into contemporary products for souvenirs, everything was great and everyone was so respectful.

We were met by Hongky, who explained to us that the zó Project is a social enterprise that helps support about 5 families in a village, 60km South of Hanoi, that preserves the 800 year old art of paper making. There is a choice to do earring making (what my daughter and I did with the very patient Ling), book binding (which my son and husband did) and also calligraphy. You can also buy some super cool in house designed greetings cards, pictures etc all using the paper made by the village families. Very reasonably priced. It is in a really interesting location, too, right on the railway line (trains only come after 7pm on weekdays, more frequently on weekends....) try visiting the railway cafe too, for a Vietnamese egg coffee or some bun cha! Cost 20 is dollars pp

Amazing little shop with unique workshops. Great way to spend the morning making earrings and book binding. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, and there are many unique gifts. We really enjoyed our visit and a quiet morning away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They also had great restaurant recommendations in the area! I highly recommend Doug a workshop and going home with a unique work of art while hearing the amazing story of Zo Project while learning a bit more about how the paper is made.

We went to Zo Project to have a look at the paper products and also with a view to signing the kids up for a workshop. The paper really is beautiful. Unfortunately we won’t ever know about the workshops - the woman at the desk was focused only on her phone, had absolutely no interest in answering our questions, and when politely pressed wearily told us to check the website. Such high quality craft deserves far better than the lacklustre, indifferent service we encountered.
