In the Hoang Thanh district of Hanoi, the embalmed Ho Chi Minh lies in a glass case in the HCM Mausoleum. Directly opposite the huge public square in front of the mausoleum is the Vietnamese National Assembly.
I cannot help but wryly conjecture that this is a deliberate juxtaposition, so that Uncle Ho can keep an eye on the latter day apostles of Vietnamese communism, who now govern a reunified Vietnam.
The National Assembly is the equivalent of Vietnam’s parliament, comprising 498 members who sit for a five year term.
Of course, in one-party Communist Vietnam, is it hardly a seat of democracy.
The building, which cost Euro 195 million was built between 2010 and 2014 to a design by the German architects Inras Lackner, who won an international competition.
Quite frankly, I find it less than inspiring and wonder what HCM would have thought, for he was a man of simple taste.

ホーチミン廟の近くにある大きな建物が国会議事堂です。定数５００人で９割が共産党、１選挙区に複数立候補が可能です。自由民主主義には、まだまだ時間がかかりそうです。

The National Assembly, Vietnam's "parliament" sits opposite the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi. If you are visiting "Uncle Ho" you will be in a queue and the National Assembly is the large, square, grey building on your right.

バーディン広場の前にある国会です。かなり巨大なゴシック風の建物。ずいぶん長い間工事中でしたが、これを作っていたということか。広場を挟んで、ごつい、国会とホーチミン廟が並んでいて、いかにも共産主義だなあという感じです。
