This was our first day in Vietnam and was a wonderful introduction to village life. We wandered through the market as our host purchased ingredients for our lunch. Mrs Chin was friendly and her children were delightful. We helped make part of our lunch but there were many more delicious dishes that she prepared as we cycled to the local rice wine maker’s home. He showed us the still and we sampled a few different varieties. There was a wedding in the village that day. We learned that weddings are a 2 day event. The first day is a big party where they cook food for the whole village. The men BBQ’d large quantities of meat, while the women cooked vegetables in large vats. The villagers were very friendly and happy to chat with us. We felt we got an honest look at village life and culture. We then went to the tea plantation and learned how to pick and dry tea. We would highly recommend this tour. The people were friendly and accommodated our dietary requests.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Hanoi and was very patient in answering all our questions and ensuring our comfort throughout the trip. All of our village hosts were very welcoming and the pace of the tour was perfect to take it all in. If you are not comfortable entering private homes and having a lot of conversation I would not advise to do this tour, but if you have a sense of adventure and desire to learn about how people live, this is a very enriching and enjoyable experience. Our guide was even so kind as to arrange for our driver to drop us at a recommended cafe near our hotel upon our return to the city to try famous egg coffee. A great way to start off the trip.

Had a wonderful experience. Pick up on time, comfortable car, visited a local market, cooking experience was so enjoyable and then had the best food ever.People very welcoming and drank so much tea. Trung is an excellent knowledgeable guide and so attentive Driver also excellent. Brought to tea farming and followed the process of picking and making tea. Had a lovely cycle through the Paddy fields and finished with a warm herbal foot bath. Would highly recommend.

This was an awesome day trip out of the chaos of Hanoi to the tranquillity of a Vietnamese village. From pick-up to return the day was well paced and informative. Our guide Mr Trung was excellent and very well informed and ensured we had an enjoyable experience. Talking with a Vietnam war veteran was a unique experience, as was learning how tea is grown, harvested and prepared. Within a day we experienced village life from tea making, tofu making and rice wine making - can highly recommend rice wine shots with the maker!
Even as a non cooking person the preparation of a Vietnamese meal was surprisingly enjoyable and the lunch our host prepared was amongst the best Vietnamese food we have eaten.
Highly recommend this trip, and do it before this unique village way of life disappears.

Mr Trung was an amazing tour guide and the whole experience was lovely and eye opening. Had a wonderful time and felt so welcomed by everyone. Great tour of Hanoi and Ba Vi

One of the best tours I had in Vietnam. Our tour guide, Trung, took us to experience the country side to learn about the unique people in Vietnam. His English is exceptional enough to have conversations and answer any questions throughout the tour. I highly recommend anyone visiting Vietnam to go on this tour.

Amazing experience with our guide Truong. Very informative tour with smooth communication in English. We got to interact with locals and observe their day-to-day life. They were all super friendly and kind. Save room for lunch. It was a feast!

This daytrip was a real surprise to me. First of all my guide Tring speaks very good English and it was a pleasure talking to him and hear about new facts for me. Our driver An (I hope this is the correct name) was a good, careful and quiet driver. The car very comfortable. And now to the excursion: we visited a green tea plantation and the owner, a Vietnam war veteran, told about his experiences and answered all my questions. I was very touched. Then we went to pick tea leaves, which is a hard and nearly DAILY work. We saw the process of turning the leaves into dry green tea. Of course I had tasted it before,during our conversation.
We proceeded to the cooking class. We learned the dressing resp. Sauce which fits to most dishes and is very popular. I asked to learn how to do springrolls. The lunch was more than abundant, don't eat much for breakfast. It is a beautiful place and the lady owner is charming, beautiful and an excellent Chef. We walked thru the village to see how TOFU is made. I saw for first time in my life. So fresh I would like to eat it, too.
We skipped the bycicle tour as I am going to have a knee operation soon and am actually not in a good shape. However, the stroll through the village was nice.
Even Ba Vi is about 1,5 hours drive out of Hanoi (to the West) it is absolutely worth it and gives a peaceful break from the noisy and bustling city of Hanoi. Realistic Asia who arranged this for me is a very good agency. Thank you! Thank you TRONG 🙏

We had a wonderful day on this tour! Our excellent guide Trung and our driver Tuyen were friendly and professional. Trung knew sooo much, spoke excellent English and if he did not know something, he enthusiastically looked it up and was happy to learn it with us! We visited a home and tea plantation with lovely hosts and we saw traditional processing methods. Our lunch, which we helped make, was fantastic, much more than we expected. There was just the two of us, so it felt like a very personal visit to friends, who were still celebrating the TET holiday. Our cycling trip was quite scenic and easy to do. We feel this trip is a must-do to get a balance from the hustle bustle of Hanoi. Thank you for this special tour!

This was by far the best of many tours we took in Vietnam due to the professionalism, high level of English proficiency, knowledge and enthusiasm of our tour guide Trung. The families were incredibly welcoming and we felt honoured to be allowed into people's homes - inspired to do the same and we do hope we will be able to reciprocate with later visits. This tour was far more authentic, and gently paced to allow us to really speak to people, than were other tours. Our girls enjoyed meeting other kids and teens at a small scale garment factory and we hugely enjoyed seeing how the animals were integrated into village life. We got to see baby boar, ducks, chickens, and cows living quite differently than in France. It was fascinating to see how tofu and rice wine are produced locally and we even got to bring home some tea pods to try to grow on our own. In all, an incredibly memorable day and hugely enjoyed by our whole family (teen and tween). A huge thank you to Trung who was by far our best tour guide in a 5 city, 2 week tour of Vietnam. It would not be possible to meet so many families and speak to so many people without this very well planned and guided tour. This is the one tour I would recommend exactly as is to family and friends.
