Vinh and AOJ provided us with a great tour of Vietnam. We had three of us in our group--me, my wife, and a friend. We gave Vinh information about the kind of tour we wanted (and things we could not do), and he put it all together. He was great at communicating with us, responding quickly to questions and ensuring we had all of the information we needed. He also provided us tips that made our trip that much better.
We visited the south, then the middle, and then the north. At all three places, his guides were there exactly as expected. The guides were knowledgeable about the country and were pleasant to be with. We had a medical situation come up in Can Tho and the guide expertly served as a liaison between the medical staff and us at the hospital there, and upon returning to Ho Chi Minh City, he took us to a clinic where they spoke English and made sure we were fine.
We have already recommended Vinh and AOJ to several friends and will enthusiastically continue to do so.

Our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia was simply amazing!!! We contacted Mr. Vinh of Ancient Orient Journeys (AOJ) to plan our trip. Our destinations were Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and Hoi An in Vietnam and Seam Reap/Angkor Wat in Cambodia for 11 days. He listened to our requests carefully and accommodated our needs perfectly! All of our guides (Mr. Khuong, Mr. Vinh and Mr. Nara) and drivers were professional, kind and flexible. The hotels were excellent, and the food was great. We were able to immerse ourselves in culture and traditions of Vietnam and Cambodia and touched by peaceful and loving energy of people there. This trip simply exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend AOJ for planning your next trip!

We are so happy we picked Vinh and Ancient Orient Journeys to plan our 2.5 week trip to Vietnam. He is a very good listener and extremely responsive. We traveled to Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Danang and Saigon. The guides and drivers were very good, as were the drivers. We liked that our guides were flexible on start times and what we wanted to do each day. We also liked that we not only saw all the major attractions, our guides were to sure to take us "off the beaten path" to see things we didn't know about. And often we were the only tourists at those things, which we loved. I had a birthday while we were in Vietnam, and Vinh arranged for a special birthday treat to be brought out (including singing!) at breakfast and then a beautiful flower arrangement spelling out Happy Birthday was on our bed when we returned from touring. We have already recommended AOJ since we returned.

Vihn Nguyen, our travel advisor, was outstanding. He tailor made our 15 day vacation in Vietnam, from north to south. The trip was amazing, every detail was thought of with precious attention and care. Our guides/drivers were incredible, true history teachers providing insight on every place we visited. The experience was one to remember for the rest of my life. My family was especially pleased because we were constantly attended with friendly people. I have already recommended this trip, Vihn in particular, to all my friends.

Our family of four (w two teens) decided to use AOJ for our 8 day trip to Vietnam. We don’t have roots to the country, but wanted a place that was different from home (USA), offering good food, new experiences, and reasonable rates. We asked Mr VINH to suggest an itinerary for us, and we let him know our interests for this trip (good food, experiencing the culture and beauty of the country). From start to finish, Mr VINH was fabulous in helping us with our trip. Our guides in each city were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable; each sharing their love for their city. For our July trip, we had an unexpected typhoon cancelling our planned cruise on Ha Long Bay. Thank goodness we didn’t have to worry, since Mr VINH and his team worked on alternative plans for that time period (we saw the beautiful Mai Chau valley area instead). Travel planners definitely take the stress out of unexpected travel events! Without a doubt we would sing the praises of Mr VINH and his team , and we would recommend them for anyone wanting to travel to Vietnam.

When I asked AOJ to plan me a trip, I had high expectations; they were beyond exceeded. It’s impossible to recreate the experiences me and my family had throughout this trip. Looking back, everything was planned and timed with perfection. I would not have it any other way. We got to see the history, attractions, and experience life in Vietnam’s northern and southern regions. In our experience the tour guide we were provided with (Mr. Khuong) was extremely knowledgeable, genuine, and considerate. He doesn’t forget to bring a smile everyday to the tour and makes you feel very comfortable in every environment. Most importantly, with the current exchange rate the tour is provided at a premium value. If you’re unfamiliar with Vietnam or don’t want to deal with the stress of planning I would recommend doing your business with AOJ.

This trip was a special occasion for us with different reasons . This was the first time visiting Vietnam for my kids who were born in United States . This was my second time back since 2004 so it’s been quite some time. We wanted to see and explore Vietnam in different places which showcased our roots , the culture, the beauty of the county along with the chaos of everyday life . Where to begin to plan for a great trip ? We were referred to a
few agencies but ended up picking Ancient Orient Journeys. Our trip was 3 weeks
long from
Hanoi, Mai Châu, Ninh Bình, Ha Long Bay, Hội An, Danang and Saigon.
From the very beginning, Mr
Vinh was eager to help us in planning the trip. It was quite a task for him since I’m a little particular about things. He patiently helped, guided, and organized the trip to our liking. He gave honest feedback and assurance. We encountered a couple issues on the trip and he immediately tried his best to rectify the situations and made suitable accommodations. He listened and took
our requests into consideration and made the trip as perfect as possible for us .Mr Vinh
followed through all the day way after the trip.

Khuong was super sweet , nice and professional. The same goes to Mr Nam our driver . They always were making sure what we need, what we like and how to go about to make the journey as seamless as possible. We had a great time despite days of hot and super humid weather which were insane to us . We bonded over sharing stories and laughters.
We appreciated all your thoughtfulness and efforts. Thank you for the great memories!

This is our 2nd visit to Vietnam, and on both occasions, we worked with Vinh at AOJ. We could not be any happier with Vinh and his team.
Throughout the planning process, Vinh listened to our preferences and concerns and helped us plan our itinerary accordingly. We had to make changes to our itinerary a few times, and Vinh patiently worked with us without any hesitation. At times when Vinh felt there might be better options to what we requested, he clearly explained the alternatives for us to consider.
Regarding the tour guides provided by AOJ, everyone that accompanied us on the various tours was exemplary. Straight away, their overall knowledge shines through. We learned so much from them while having great conversations and laughs. No details were too small to ensure our comfort and safety.
Some may think all the above is part of a paid service. True…but our experience with Vinh is that he goes above and beyond the expectations. On our long journey back to the States, our flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. We were stuck at the airport in HCM City while scrambling to find available next flights. We reached out to Vinh asking for help. Although his responsibilities with us have completed, Vinh did not hesitate. He helped us find a hotel near the airport and transportation to pick us up from the airport. Vinh stayed connected with us until we safely settled back at the hotel. This spoke volume of Vinh’s dedication to his clients and genuine concerns. We were so grateful for Vinh’s support.
To anyone that is still deciding on a travel agency for their trip to Vietnam, AOJ is the one. We will return to Vietnam and most likely do our first trip to Thailand. And without a doubt, we will work with AOJ again.

One of the most relaxing and satisfying tours I've ever taken.
My children escorted me back to southern Vietnam with a stop in Hanoi and Ha Long Bay enroute. We didn't have lots of time, as the kids needed to get back to their day jobs. So we squeezed it all into 8 days, and Vinh at AOJ made it happen. He proposed an itinerary, listened to our ideas, understood what we wanted to see and do, and provided a wonderfully customized vacation. A terrific guy to work with, he took all the stress out of planning such a trip. He took care of visas, transportation in country, drivers, guides, accommodations, meals, activities, you name it. All we had to do was show up!
What's more, the people he selected as guides and drivers were amazing. They were very knowledgeable, competent, and accommodating, of course, but even more, they made us feel truly welcome and took care of us like family would do watching out for our safety and welfare throughout the tour. Our driver, Hung, maneuvered us through all sorts of insane traffic situations without blinking an eye and provided security for all our belongings when we were away from our van. We never had to worry about them.
Our guide, Thanh, was a walking encyclopedia. He knew everything about everything, or if he didn't, he knew someone who did, and he'd get the answer to whatever ridiculous question we'd come up with. He was constantly handing us water bottles to keep us hydrated, reminding me to keep my waist pack zipped closed, checking to see we put on sunscreen and insect repellant when needed, and ensuring we didn't get any questionable food or water. Even when the tour was over and he had left us at our hotel to get ready to depart for home the next morning, he went across town to get banh mi sandwiches from his favorite vendor to bring back for us. We had really liked them, and it was a beautiful parting gesture on his part.
Ancient Orient Journeys epitomize the kindness of the Vietnamese people, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone planning to visit Vietnam.

My sisters and I took our father back to Vietnam this spring and I can't express how great it was working with Vinh at AOJ. We had an aggressive itinerary (as one does when you want to see everything!) and Vinh was somehow able to make it all work. Having someone there to plan all the logistics (in-county flights, hotels, drive times, etc.) made the trip much less stressful than it would otherwise have been.
However, what really makes Vinh and AOJ stand out was the attention to detail and the guides. Vinh met us at our hotel one day and had a gift for my dad...a small Vietnamese cyclo. It was something my dad had been mentioning as being very memorable and Vinh went out of his way to buy a small one as a gift. Very cool gesture.
The guides Vinh hired (Mr. Thang and Mr. Thanh) were also very knowledgeable and paid attention to every little detail. They had no problem getting away from the itinerary and exploring something we had expressed an interest in exploring or doing as we went along. We spent time at the post office sending our loved ones post cards and driving down lots of tiny roads searching for areas of the delta that looked familiar to my dad. Even after our trip was officially over, and we were relaxing at our hotel on the last night, Mr. Thanh showed up with the ingredients to make banh mi sandwiches because we had mentioned wanting that for dinner. His favorite place was too far for us to get to from our hotel so he drove there himself and delivered it to us as a final surprise. He perfectly embodies the entire Vietnamese people and how warm and inviting they are.
Would highly recommend Ancient Orient Journeys and wouldn't hesitate to use them again on our next trip to Vietnam!
