Excellent detailed tour by Pete. He turned up in time, we had breakfast and then went to Secret dump used by Vietnamese before attacking the independent palace and then the independent palace. He was giving detailed explanation. We had to cut short this due to personal things but Pete did a great job. He gave us a cultural breif of Vietnamese people and exchanged with the Indian culture details. Over all Saigon Hotpot is an excellent source for the walking tours.

Our free walking tour with Saigon Hotpot was an amazing culinary and cultural experience thanks to Đào Lâm Gia Hân!
Đào is a lovely and animated young university student who tailored her tour to our inner foodie nerdism! Đào used her insight as a local student and took us along on an impromptu, delectable food crawl through the bustling alleyways and streets of Saigon!
TomAnda also got to know Đào on a more personal level as she opened up about her Vietnamese heritage and family life. It was such a joyous tour that what was supposed to be a 3 hour tour morphed into a 5 hour tour with Đào!
Đào catered to our curiosity with expert knowledge of the local food scene and culture. We came away from the tour with increased appreciation of Vietnam, and more importantly a friend in Đào!

They cancelled both of my trips. I completely understand it is volunteer. But the make up one was cancelled at the last minute and I did not have a back up plan!

Han was a wonderful tour guide! She took my partner and I to the flower market in district 11 and showed us all the best food to get! Thanks Han for a wonderful night and good conversation :)

Ms. Han was my guide. We toured the Independence Palace. She was knowledgable and answered all my questions on the history of Vietnam. I have learned much on the history of Vietname in this palace. I was amazed that there were 2 red circles drawn on roof of the palace to indicate the location of the 2 bombs that were dropped on this palce.
We passed by Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon. Unfortunately, it was still under renovation. It was taking a long time because of COVID-19 lockdown and all building materials have to be shipped from France!
Next stop was a historical builing called Saigon Central Post Office. I was pleasantly surprised that the post office was still functioning inside this historical building.
Next, we walked along Ho Chi Minh City Book Street. A good place to read with a cup of coffee.
Finally, Ms. Han was kind enough to show me the way to Cong Caphe's to try out Vietnamese coconut coffee. The building where Cong located was eye opening -- there was an very old yet functioning elevator with staircase sprialling around the elevator shaft.
Overall, it was a very good experience.

It was my 3rd Walking tour with lovely Han. How helpful she was !!!
My grown up children love her so much. We have learned a lot about Vietnamese history and culture. We ate a lot of local street food together and it was delicious. I would love to see Han again when I visit Saigon again !!!

Saigon - Beautiful, Bustling and Modern with a touch of historical nostalgia. It would have been complicated to navigate such a maze of wonder, but the wonderful guides from SGHP took care of that.
My trip on 18 November 23 started with Duyen, who brought us on an amazing journey visiting the important cultural attractions that defined Saigon as a city. We started with walk on the Nguyen Hue walking street and explored the renowned cafe apartment before settling down for nice cup of tea. We carried on to the Notre Dame Cathedral, central post office and finally the independence palace, where the once US-aligned government of Southern Vietnam governed from. We ended the trip with an extremely delicious Pho and a trip to a very secret “local only” cafe apartment within D1. Duyen has been instrumental in starting the trip on the right footing, and we thank you for your intricate knowledge on Saigon.
Day 2 (19 November 23) was no exception, our wonderful guide Nhi brought us on an inside-out tour of Saigon. We started the day with a visit to Banh Mi Hoa Ma (Even though I visited North Vietnam in June 23, i didn’t ate a single Banh Mi. 😂), this was my first Banh Mi in Vietnam, and it was so special that the ingredients were placed on a plate separately from the bun. It was super delicious. We then proceeded to visit the museum of hidden arsenal, understanding how special forces of the Viet Minh prepared and conducted an attack on the independence palace in 1968. Little Chinatown was next in D5, with sock coffee and fried radish cake ticked off the to-try list. Finally, i got to try Vietnamese Durian, which was delicious! I would like to add that Nhi painstakingly researched and ensure that the Durians we were having are of a good quality. Thank you so much! 😊 We ended the tour with coffee at Cong Ca Phe! Nhi has been nothing but outstanding! Appreciate you and your guidance.
It is often said that “Time is Money”, and i truly believe in that. I would like to take this opportunity to deeply thank you guys for giving us your precious time over the weekends, and to deliver us the best Saigon experience one can ever asked for.
Xin cam on my friends, we’ll meet again!

Nhi was my guide her invaluable knowledge and description of the events, and the tour of boththe Independent Palace and the War Remnants Museum, where excellent.
With a stop for breakfast, a coffee break, and finally some of the best seafood I have ever eaten as a late lunch, this was an outstanding day, thanks Nhi.
This was the best decision I made whilst in the country, their Lantern Charity donation is optional, however when compared to some of the paid for tours, this is head and shoulders above them, so why not donate as a thank you you.

Had a very memorable walking tours by young volunteer undergraduate guides during our 21-24 Nov 2023 stay in HCMC. Enjoyed the yummy Vietnamese pizza, crabmeat soup, BBQ meat and ladies finger skewers, avacado ice cream desserts at Food Street. Visits to Chinatown, Presidential Palace, War Museum & Post Office were very educational to us and we had a jolly good time with the young people very eager and enthusiastic to ensure we had a good visit in Saigon ! They will be the future of Vietnam and I wish them will and really appreciate their effort to even spend time with us a the I-Cool Family Karaoke. Kudos to Kanh Li, Nhi, Huy & Chris young lads and my apologies if I got their name wrongly typed here !

I gave 200,000 dong to donate to their cause and paid for our coffee and treated her to lunch and the grab around the area. It is better to pay everything in saigon in dong coz they stop accepting USD in any area other than district 1

Saigon Hotpot is the greatest thing ever !
You get to meet real Vietnamese and you can talk about whatever you want - they are wanting an English lesson, and they take you around town while you pay only for food, transportation and any admission costs.
The young students are energetic and personable - this is especially good for seniors on your 'tour day off' because you can go at your own pace. The Saigon Hotpot guide is not pushing to get a big group through a tourist trap - they are interested in listening to you and responding appropriately - so who cares if you walk at a leisurely pace ?

Bonjour

Can I be picked up from the airport
kdmc

I don't think they will pick you up at the airport. Usually, you meet somewhere downtown. We flew in the same day as our tour, and found a car service at the airport. We didn't have to arrange that in advance. There were several options, not expensive. You'll see them near the luggage area. Our flight was delayed a bit, so we emailed them (wifi available at the airports). They were waiting for us when we got to the hotel. No problem. Note that you will pay for any transportation during the tour (taxi, Uber, etc.). We found the two students from Saigon Hotpot charming and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful afternoon with them.

Hi, What are the things that you need to pay? ex. buses, entrance for you and for the guide etc, lunch? Thank you in advance. :)

Taxi fare to some spots of interest. Depends on your budget and walking ability. The entry rate is cheaper for the guides as students at the attractions. And I did treat my guides to a coffee. Plus whatever snacks or meals and souvenirs you prefer. I would say $20-30 USD is plenty for a day.
