Hi Rebecca I didn't actually go as I have back and neck problems my 24 year old son went. He said it was 4 x 4 land cruisers going up and over very large sand dunes. I don't go on roller coasters as I get sick plus also due to my physical problems. If she gets car sick it could be a problem unless you give her something. My son really enjoyed it including the camel ride and sand boarding. Hope this helps. Melinda

Hi Brian, we did the tour with Arabian Adventures and there is other tour groups that do similiar desert tours in 4WD’s and camel rides. But in saying that, they all stop at the same place and independent locals take you on the camel rides which are fairly short rides, nothing that heads to the Ocean. The tour in the 4WD certainly goes from the desert to the inland sea and the coast and it was fabulous. I wold highly recommend the tour we went on with Arabian Adventures as they were so professional but as I said previously doesn’t involve any lengthy camel rides. I am pretty sure there are camel rides at some of the sea resort areas like Sealine Beach area and other areas but they are not combined with desert tours. We did a full day and overnight in the Bedouin tents and I think it equated to approx $150 Aussie dollar which was a good price but you don’t have to do the overnighter. The camel ride was 20-25 riyals (nearly $10) extra which is paid to the individual camel owner. I hope that helps.

Hi - I have been on the dunes twice with this company and found it about 4-5. It is not teeth jarring. Because it is offroad, the landscape is uneven, so there is some swaying and back and forth in your seat, but at no time did I feel jarred on these rides. The guides/drivers are great and put safety first. I highly recommend them. Also, as the trip unfolds, they are quite receptive to feedback. If you need them to slow down or drive more carefully to help your back, then speak up right away. It is not fair to suffer through the whole trip and then speak badly at the end. Give them the chance to create a great experience for you.

I didn't ask if I can join another tour, because I chose to pay the premium rate in order to be able to sit on the front seat. When I did my tour (1/2 day dune driving) there were 3 more groups doing the same tour with the same company. So if you are lucky you may be able to join another tour. I would recommend e-mailing them. The person who answers the e-mails speaks perfect English. Good luck and have fun!

It would probably depend on how long ago you had the bypass operation. I would suggest you ask this question when you enquire with Arabian Adventures as they can probably run at a pace to suit certain individuals.
