Have been to Nanshan ski resort the first time on December 27, the second time on December 31st. The first time it was not possible to get to the top of the "mountain" (hill) because the black slope had not been prepared yet, so skiing the whole day on the beginners slope was a little bit boring. Instead, the second time, one of the 2 black slopes starting from the top of the mountain was open and it was a great experience. Just regret not to be there in middle of January when the other black slope "extreme snow channel" is planned to open, as judging from above it should be very steep and challenging. One more reason to go there again in the future. In total the ski resort has 3 chairlifts, all of them are 4 seats fixed-grip type with no cover. The only defect is that the foot stand is made for chinese skiers, which means that if you are taller than 1,8 meter then it's very difficult to put your skis on it, leaving them leaning down all the time. I also enjoyed the moguls areas, they have easy, medium, difficult one (this last one is just the standard black slope starting from the top of the mountain). Rental procedure is OK, you have to pay 400 rmb as a deposit, the once you rent something the related cost will be deduct from this deposit so you don't need to handle cash all the time. Food is OK and organization is OK. Parking fee is 5 rmb but if you are lucky sometimes is free (don't know why). Have a nice day!

Coaches accosted you as soon as you step in. We actually plan to let kids have fun in the snow. Artificial snow. Then coaches started following us around telling us to engage their services. 'Its all for the safety of kids' they says. Makes us feel that if we dont engage them, we are neglecting our kids safety. No free area to play. All need to engage coaches. Otherwise, there is no space for you

I’m not an expert skier so this resort is good enough for me. There are multiple types of lifts from the travellator to the standard chair lifts (though they kinda come in a little on the quick side for me) . It’s not crowded on the weekday and the rates reasonable. Only downside is you need to put a 300 RMB deposit per pax (in cash, not Alipay) in order to use their equipment.

Travelled by free shuttle bus, general booking . arrangements made possible by my Chinese friend - it would have been a real challenge in English. Gear hire was fine, boots, ski's pretty good and cheap. The slops are not particularly challenging or varied though (apart from one very steep and very black run - take this one on with caution!!)
Food was unremarkable collection of fries, burger and pot noodle.
An hour from Beijing though so .... okay I guess. Good for beginning kids.

I went here in winter vacation with my family. We stayed at Longmai Hotspring Village for the first night and drove here the next day early in the morning rather than come in the afternoon, otherwise the snow may not be clean and soft. Many beginners on the beginners' slope so I felt just fine even though I couldn't ski really well. But there's also a few difficult ones from the mountain top.I tried one of them.Although I fell down,it didn't hurt much and I thought I was quite brave!Lots of tools available which were helpful. You'd better bring a thin scarf to avoid your face being hurt by the strong wind. The staff were friendly and polite.Price was OK and I recommend a group purchase online in advance so it might be even cheaper.
I stayed for four hours here and here comes an exciting part.Picking strawberries was just right after skiing when you are tired and hungry. The thing is you can eat whatever you like in the greenhouse!Febraury is the very time of the ripening of strawberries. They are delicious!!

We came here for a day and it was perfect for the distance and cost for a trip from Beijing. Lots of options for beginners and relatively new skiers. Not so much for thrill seekers, but good if you just want to get on the snow and enjoy a smooth run.
Wouldn’t recommend for more than 2 days and it doesn’t seem to cater to that any way. Staff friendly even if your Chinese is minimal. Lots of smiles go a long way!

cons - music just inside of 3 Bars, i would suggest Headphones or Speaker
Pros - there are tons of Tools/options to have PERFECTLY Perfect time!
It is not a big mountain! Probably for extreme skiing it is not a right spot!
But for everybody else it can be just a perfect SPOT especially for People who stays in China.
That Magic place can be Magic in case of Using of all of its opportunities.
*
Right PLACE to Stay and RIGHT ROUTE (in my case first 2 days we spent 10 minutes to reach our hotel using not beautiful way at all until We found out 1 MINUTE ROUTE surrounded with beautiful winter landscape)
*
Right TIME to go on Ride (can be crowdy at weekends at some points of day)
*
To PICK RIGHT Package FOR YOU to use Budget EFFECTIVELY (like making groups or joining groups to hire instructors or to buy MULTItime package)
*
Right PLACE for Parking
*
to EXPLORE (we found some cheap or even free attractions, where we got even more fun than ski by itself, especially if you have kids)
*
picking RIGHT Equipment (been Picky at rent spot is a Universal Rule almost for any Resort I've been)
BEST Things about are
COACH for 2 hours JUST 60-70 bucks! MEANING you can Leave your Kid SAFELY and Have your Own Enjoyable and Safe time! --my Version!
*
not all the coaches can be suitable for your needs, so after trying few of them we stuck with GREAT one with whom you can Feel Safe and Comfortable especially when it comes to send your kid with
TAXI Just 50 BUCKS to any Worth PLACE TO COME like GREAT WALL, AIRPORT or SOUTH Beijing Railway Station!
I saw some REVIEWS that there is Nobody Speaks ENGLISH -- it is BS.. I interviewed Dozens of PEOPLE in ENGLISH! until You are not using phrases 'gucci with you' you will be very FINE!
another Topic is about VIBES and PEOPLE which is very Important personally for me.. and this place is Hard to beat. BEAUTIFUL ACTIVE Friendly CROWD! Everything is very colorful weather it is CLOTHES Boards Accessories.
FOOD is one of the Highest Priorities for me as I don't believe that by Eating Crap food is Possible to have not Crap life.
And here I did not feel stress out about it..
I was Pretty satisfied with Quality of Indigents, Quality of Service or Freshness.
For Vegetarians not so much of choice. Gluten Free crowd will be fine.
Good Coffee at every corner for 5 USD

Spent three days there and good basic skiing. Great for the kids (8-10). Loads of beginners so you don't feel out of place being crap. All artificial snow, no nice powder cover. Very good price for skiing. Issue is you really need someone with some Chinese or you'll run into issues and a lot of wasted time. Also hard to get instructors that have any English.

Very easy day skiing with the family. When you arrive you 1st pay for car park, then buy a ticket to enter the ski area, then buy ski hire inside. Even if you have no gear you can hire everything! Great wide beginner/ mid range ski runs. Limited number of runs but fine for a day out to keep your ski legs!

Visited on 9 Dec 2018. My 2 teenage boys had loads of fun. The facilities (ski attire/lockers) are quite complete. They even have medic and recovery team who act quite fast when anyone falls. Those not skiing can wait at the cafe (indoor & outdoor).
The only gripe is the shuttle bus operates by Nanshan Ski. They only accept payment via WeChat on the phone and as foreign tourists, we are not able to do so. Fortunately our guide from the previous day to Great Wall helped us to book using her account.
The whole place was crowded. But other than my family and 2 other foreigners we saw, all the other visitiors are locals.:)

Planning to go there too but I see the accomodations are mostly far from the ski slope.
Do they provide shuttle bus tom hotel to go to the ski resort?

Is there a ski resort near Beijing that only has real snow and does not use artificial snow?

Will the resort be open at the end of February? 20-27th 2019.

Hi Colin, can you share any opinion on whether Nanshan is better for skiing than Wanlong which is further from Beijing. Where is the best place to stay? It is straight forward to organise independently as an English-only speaker, or is it best to organise through a tour? Thanks, B

Hai, is it possible to get the shuttle bus to Nanshan Ski without booking it in advance? Or can I book by email? I'm planning to go there on Jan 23 2018 :)
Đã viết vào 1 tháng 11, 2017
Nanshan ski official shows they have the shuttle bus, it seems that you have to book the ticket one day in advance. As it's not possible to share weblink here then you could google "Beijing Nanshan Ski Village" , go to the official web, then follow " About - Getting here" to see more in details.
