住宅街に台湾式の寺院の斜め前に建つ、仏像。左右に虎（兄）と豹（弟）が守り神の様にいて、裏から見ると◯ン◯ンが！厳粛な仏像の後ろに回ると小さな入口があり、約5人でいっぱいになる場所に涅槃像が。涅槃像は撮影禁止なので目に収めて。厳かな雰囲気と虎豹のコントラストが凄い。

This Buddhist temple is located not far away from the Farrer Park MRT station. The ambience is calm and clean. Statues inside this temple are colorful.

大きなトラが守る入口を入ると、高さ15ｍ重さ300ｔの巨大な大仏様が正面に座っておられます。釈迦像の周りには無数の法灯がめぐらされており、千燈寺院の由来となっています（正式名称はシャカムニ・ブッダガヤ寺院）。裏に廻ると大仏内に入る小さな入口があり、中には釈迦涅槃像が祀られています。

One of the great things about Singapore is the great variety and buildings of its major religions. While Little India has great Hindu temples, it also has a great Buddha temple. This Buddhist temple was vastly different than the Chinese ones we saw in Chinatown as this was a Thai Temple. In the center is a giant statue to the Buddha surrounded by 1,000 lights and under it is a depiction in statues of Buddha's life. However, the most interesting part of the visit is the reclining Buddha inside the giant statue that you can not take pictures of. It is a tight fit and only a couple of people can see at one time. Anyways we really enjoyed talking with the main caretaker. He also showed us the Buddha's footprint, a beautiful mother of pearl piece shaped as a footprint and dedicated to the life of the Buddha. Overall, great experience and very glad we found this.

Lokasi Klenteng Buddha Sakya Muni Gaya tak jauh dari MRT station Farrer Park NE8, kira-kira hanya 300 meter saja. Klenteng ini juga dikenal dengan sebutan Temple of 1000 lights, dimana didalam klenteng ini ada patung Budha bersila besar sekali dan dibelakangnya ada patung Budha tidur. Gaya klenteng ini mirip seperti kuil-kuil yang ada di Thailand

リトルインディアからすこし離れたお寺になります。２頭の虎が待ち構える建物内に入るとビックリ！仏様がとにかく大きくて迫力がありました！

Dopo aver visto numerosi templi fra Cina Giappone Hong Kong non me la sento di dare piu di tre stelle. Ambiente piuttosto piccolo. Si entra scalzi. Il Buddha è grande e si può fare il giro di dietro.

The Thousand Lampad Temple, or Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple, is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Singapore. It belongs to the Thai Theravadin tradition. The temple was founded by the Thai monk Vuttisara in 1927.
The height of the main statue of Buddha in the temple is 15 meters, and the weight is about 300 tons.
Interesting fact.
At Vesak, the annual celebration of the birth and enlightenment of the Buddha, the congregation brings a donation to the temple, for which they are allowed to place a piece of gold on the statue of the Buddha. By the end of the holiday, the Buddha is completely covered with a fresh layer of gold leaf.

タイからやってきた僧侶によって創建されたお寺で、別名シャカムニ・ブッダガーヤ寺院というそうです。大きな大仏が置かれています。タイの仏経文化とと中国の仏教文化が交じり合い、独特の雰囲気を作っています。

The Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple popped up on my “attractions to visit near me” page and I decided to visit the place. Personally I’m very fond of temples and discovering new places so I was all the more excited. There were many other temples along the way- leading to this temple and I felt that having seen so many others - it was a slightly let down for me. Maybe it was the number of other places I had visited probably. But this temple has a giant Buddha statue - you can also go behind the statue to visit the inside chamber which portrays Buddha when he passed away. It is a relatively small temple but very well maintained. The statue is very impressive. But somehow I wasn’t as overwhelmed as I had hoped to be.
