I popped in here after visiting the History Museum and found all the presents I wanted to buy to take back to the UK. Original paintings as well as authentic trinkets, pottery, fabrics and jewellery.

Una casita minúscula sobre la bahía contiene variedad de artesanías y piezas de arte. Es equivalente al gift shop del museo. Hay que tener en cuenta dos libras son tres dólares. Aceptan dólares.

Went in and they had a large range of hand made items Fabric and pottery .Pictures and lots of small items to buy to take home as a remembrance of being on Falklands.

Studio 52 is an eclectic mix of handcrafted items made by Falklands Craftspeople. It is always open if there is a cruise ship but otherwise it has rather odd openning times, which is not uncommon in Stanley. The owner has a fantastic set of photographs from which you can get prints. I loved the knitted hugs and the ceramics.

This was the only visit out of my 3 when this shop happened to be open since normally I chose to go around Xmas. The lady owner was a friendly shopkeeper who was courteous and the prices of the souvenirs were reasonable. The table mats and coasters with local photos were very good and I should say the best in terms of photography, pricing and variety among all shops in the Falklands. They were really good as souvenirs for friends and relatives and for use at home and workplace. I bought quite a few of them. The shop also offered some nice tea towels and cushion covers which were reasonably priced and different from those available elsewhere in the Falklands. It is not a large shop when compared to a few others in Stanley but it is a good one-stop shop for commonly usable and presentable souvenirs for this lovely place.

I often visit the Falkland Islands and pop into Studio 52 on the Stanley waterfront. I've several pictures from there taken by the owner how is an acomplished photograther. At home, these always remind me of my trips. Pop in!

This shop is small but perfectly formed. It offers local goods, but different from the usual stuff in the shops. The lady who owns the shop has some lovely artwork/photography for sale and also promoted her husbands local business, The Falklands Beerworks.We bought some beer soap and a t-shirt.

The locals seem to come into two distinct groups...friendly or unfriendly and the latter is appropriate in my experience. They weren’t outright rude but they were terse, unhelpful and unwilling.
There is nothing remarkable in the shop. It’s just another overpriced gift shop specifically tailored to make the maximum profit off the tour ships that dock regularly. They sell postcards but don’t sell stamps for instance. I noted an overpriced Merino wool travel rug at a whopping £180...and this is on an island without 20% VAT...so they add it themselves for a little extra profit, I think?

I’m really sorry you didn’t have a good experience in my Studio. I do try to say hi and welcome to everyone who comes in but some days there may be a few people all in the studio at once. It is unfair of you to suggest that all I have in the studio and all I do is for tour ships! This is just simply not true, the creative work I do is for many different people, all of the items in my Studio are either designed, created and handmade by me or by other locally talented artists, bar a small amount of jewellery I get in for the local market. The items are certainly not over priced. I make and create the things I do because I love designing, photographing and making things.
The wool merino rug you refer to was designed by a young local woman. And given the size of our small nation because we can’t process the Falklands merino here, it has to be sent to the UK to be washed, combed, spun and woven and then returned to the islands, this is not a cheap process. Tegen was in the UK to oversea the final results. Certainly I could consider getting stamps in for the postcards but the post office is only 2 doors down from me.

The lady who runs this little gem is clearly a most talented photographer. If you're looking for a good memento of a visit to the Falklands then this is the place to go.
