A splendid building down by the waterside, designed by the first governor general. It is in a great setting, though the garden does need a little attention

While one is able to take all of the photos desired from the road, the building and grounds are closed to the public. I would have loved to see inside. However, the grounds are nice.

Al pasar frente a la casa del gobernador, allí donde también desarrolla en parte su tarea, me dio curiosidad sobre su interior. El invernadero me llamó la atención y pensé en lo difícil que será en esta latitud abastecerse de vegetales frescos. Aparte de esto me indigna reconocer la soberanía que ostentan los británicos, materializada en la figura de un gobernador.

Whilst you are able to either enter the grounds or the house you are able to take as many photos as you wish all from different angles.

......open to the public. The architecture is amazing as is the abundance of plants and greenery on the grounds. But alas, we had to enjoy it from the outside looking in.

We were delayed overnight in Stanley and that gave us the opportunity to visit the Government House Garden's Open Day. Very impressive greenhouses/poly tunnels - looks as if whatever their gardeners plants thrives.

Situated towards the western end of Stanley on Ross Road, Government House is both the home and the workplace of the Governor of the Falkland Islands. Work began in 1845 to a design by Governor Moody. The central, stone part of the building was the original house. The first person to take up residence was Governor Moore in 1859. The Argentinian Forces deployed on the Islands the night of April 1-2, 1982. One of the main goals was to capture the Government complex in Stanley.

The official residence and office of the Governor of the Falklands. Not open to the public except by invitation, but this is supposedly the "most photographed" building in Stanley! Beautiful grounds, a nice country house feel to it, built in the 19th century. Good for a walk by and a photo!
