During our visit to Stanley while most from our cruise went to see penguins, we walked through the memorial wood which was very moving, more so as we remembered well the events that took place and the lives lost. Very glad we went to see it.

There are not that many trees in Stanley,but this is a quiet
area away from all the thousands of tourist that descend on

The first stop by our group of returning veterans. Every serviceman who fell all 255 has a tree planted and dedicated to them. Good to look out the one of particular friends.

Delightful to find one area of trees, surviving despite the windy conditions that prevail. As a memorial it has strong atmosphere; as a destination it needs to record the species of plants also. They supply the sense of privacy and contemplation appropriate to commemoration and deserve to be recorded.

This was our first visit to the Memorial Wood. We were not aware of its existence during our last visit. We easily found the tree dedicated to the college friend of a work colleague and took some photos for him. The tree was fairly easy to find using the site map. Many of the trees are adorned with memorabilia of the deceased. Worth a visit if in Stanley.

This is a lovely and respectful place to visit. There is a tree planted for every fallen soldier of the 1982 war. Its great place to pay respect to the fallen. The wood is looked after by the local Boy Scouts and Girl Guides who do a good job. The Falkland Islanders will never forget what these men sacrificed for their liberation. Lest we forget!

Each tree and shrub is dedicated and carries the name of those who lost their lives freeing the Islands in 1982.
