According to the website and lonely planet this place has more than 300 animals. But as a visitor (not a volunteer) you see just a few monkeys far up in a tree.
You pay to trek to a viewpoint from where you can see the town. But did you really go to the rainforest to see a town?
If they really have all this animals and no money why not let the visitors see the animals?
This may be a great place for volunteers. But as visitors we were very disappointed and do not recommend visiting this place.

I'm still in contact with the CIWY so despite me not being there for a long time am aware of how things are going and the project is still the same. It's a beautiful project which gives you an exception experience to be invovled in the rehabilitation of wild animals. Highly recommended.

This is the most humbling experience you can ask for. After only planning on spending 2 weeks here we kept extending and stayed for over 3 months. It’s increible what this place has done for so many animals that have had a rubbish start to life. It’s the most professional voulenteer centre I’ve been to and the animals are their number one priority. Yes the work is hard. It’s hot and you’re walking through the jungle, but youre working alongside the most amazing wildlife! From jaguars to monkeys, tayhones and macaws , it has something here for everyone!
The rooms are shared accommodation with bunk beds, I would advise to bring your own sleeping bag or blanket. It was boiling the whole time I was there but still something nice to lie on.
If you’re looking for a once in a lifetime experience, and to REALLY get up close and personal with big cats (and small ones!) then this is your place

I volunteered with the Capuchin Monkeys at Parque Machia Bolivia in September 2017.
A Life Changing Experience For Volunteers and Animals
This was my first experience of South America and also Volunteering. The first day consisted of training and reading manuals about the history of each animal. Safety training was also explained for each of the animals. We weren’t allowed to interact with any animals that we weren’t assigned to. This was to ensure that only trained volunteers would help their specific animals. CIWY provides accommodation although basic it has everything you need including toilets, showers and beds. My tasks included preparing food and enrichment throughout the day and to ensure the animals were properly cared for. At CIWY the animals always come first and this is a great outlook as the main goal is to achieve happiness for the animals. All the animals I met were well looked after and safety of both volunteers and animals was always ensured. We were given lunch that was cooked fresh daily. The food was always delicious and people were always going up for more. Breakfast and Dinner were available to purchase onsite for a small fee and all cooked fresh. In the evenings volunteers would play volleyball, we also played football against a local team and went out for meals as a group. I am looking to go back next year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I visited CIWY in 2011 with Quest Overseas. I spent time at the Jacq Cuisi and Ambue Ari parks.
I spent 6 weeks in a beautiful country caring for incredible animals; pumas, jaguars, ocelots, pios, a baby howler monkey... and so many more. And exploring local villages and eating amazing food.
There is grueling work too! Long days of digging pits, carrying rocks and sand, mixing cement in tarps, carrying rolls of fencing wire... all to create new homes for the animals of CIWY.
But the spirit of the volunteers and the atmosphere of the camps make this the single most rewarding experience of my life.
If I could afford the flight, I would be back in a second.

I have been fortunate enough to visit Parque Machia twice, in 2003 and again in 2017, and Parque Ambue Ari in 2017 and had a fantastic time during both my visits.
I made many friends from a wide range of countries whilst working with the other volunteers, and had an incredibly enriching experience looking after the animal I was assigned to; an ocelot named Rico!
My visit to the Park benefited me considerably; it was an incredible opportunity to work closely with a big cat - a lifelong dream for me, as well as presenting me with another way to learn about and get to know the beautiful country of Bolivia. I would recommend anyone who loves, or has an interest in wild animals or nature to visit and volunteer; it is a unique experience where you get to really learn about and understand the natural environment far better than any guided tour ever could.

I've been lucky enough to work at both Parque Machia and Ambue Ari, words cannot truly describe how incredible these places are. Where else can you form a unique bond with a rescued puma or howler monkey, working hands on with them every day. Just be careful if you go, you'll almost certainly want to come back every year.
