If you are reasonably fit, do not leave Manali without doing the Beas Kund trek. It is not simple to do in a day, but it can be done. It is a mixture of uphill climbs, small river crossings and walking across big and small rocks. When you look back from the pond (as this is what it is) you get a magnificent 360 degree view of snow covered mountains.

Beas kund is a well known trek in manali. It is hard to believe that this hidden gem can be found right above Manali's bustling city. Trekkers love this trek because of its setting.

the kund has hot spring. it is said that the holy water absolves all diseases and sins. a must visit place.

Me and my friend were one of first trekkers of the season this year. It had snowed heavily this year, in fact a 25-year old record in terms of the amount of snowfall. The walk to Dhundi was along lovely greenery. From Dhundi the upward climb started towards our first day campsite near Bhakar Thatch. It was an easy climb but made difficult by freezing cold rain. We could see it was snowing at top of the surrounding mountains. The next day it rained and snowed whole day so we were forced to stay inside our tents whole day. Luckily , the scenery around was enchanting and we could hear the glaciers cracking and melting, the stream flowing melodiously and even a few avalanches . So it wasn’t a Lost day . Next day , it was a clear blue sky and sun shining brightly so we could trek up to the highest point of our trek from where we could spot the Beas Kund at a distance. We could not reach the lake because it was totally covered in snow and our trek guide felt it was risky to walk on frozen streams and moraines. The highlight of our trek today was the avalanches we could hear and spot from a distance. Beware of the tricky part containing of rocks along a steep slope. Overall, a very scenic and mostly easy trek .

Being a student of tourism ,my learning has taken me places of divine knowledge and serene beauty and beas kund is one of those places.during my masters of touism period i had a privelage of trekking to this beautiful place.Very easy trek from base camp bakrthach, basic trekking equipments required carry warm thermals and waterproof jackets.Best time to visit is from end of may to september. Happy trekking Respect Himalayas.

Yes it is possible to do short treks provided the weather conditions are okay. Preferably with a local guide who knows the route and is familiar with the area.

Hello, We are planning a trip to Beas Kund on this 23rd feb 2018. I doubt whether it would be open or not. Also if it is not possible during this time then can we reach upto Dhundi ?
How much time does it take to visit Beas Kund if we are staying in Manali? Is it recommended for a group of 50-60 people in the month of January?

Beas Kund is a pure trek, and needs a lot of physical endurance to reach. Its not a place for picnic that one should go with 50-60 people. Its place that can see natural hazards anytime, and you cannot take responsibility for so many people.
It needs a certain fitness people.
I went to trek Beas Kund on a 3 day trek. We were walking for many hours through out the day to reach base camp and then to Beas Kund. Weather changed multiple times, and it was extremely cold.
Besides, a group of 50-60 people would definitely spoil the nature. Its very difficult to control them.
Treks are best done in small groups.
