Professional trek operators hold group treks. On your own make sure you have proper tent, snow boots etc. Or tie up with of those operators.

yes, it is day trek. todatal days required are 3, Manali to Manali Day 1: Gulaba (18 kms from Manali) to Rola Koli (miday way to Bhrigu Lage Day 2: Rola Koli to Bhrigu Lake to Rola Koli Day 3: Rola Koli to Gulaba also, some people do Day2 and Day3 in single day only, it is tough but doable, we people did it.

Most trek routes on Bhrigu lake need camping. There aren't eateries or sheds to my knowledge. Under any case a lot of operators run campings at reasonable rates there.They include food and camping both. if you are solo trekker types carrying own camping gear like rented tent, sleeping bag advisable you carry packed food like Breads, biscuits, butter etc.Or a burner to cook.

Other treks your kids can do are Uttarakhand: Dayara Bugyal , Nagtibba, Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila [4 kms total 1 way], Kalpeshwar temple [2 kms near Helang-Joshimath], Yamunotri [Its a bit steep at 6.5 kms but enough food shacks, well paved raod and resting time like Vaishnodevi. Even at relaxed slow speed can finish one way up in 4.5 hours], Har Ki Dun & Kedarkantha. Some of these treks are on even in winter in snow and in May when there is no snow but cover 5-8 days return trek. Valley of Flowers [5 kms] after June possible on Hemkund trek but the base camp trek is 10 kms + and horses available for rest. You can club hemkund Sahib Darshan with it and end full trip from Govindghat base to return in 4 days flat.Can consider Shri Badrinath Darshan also at barely 1 hour drive from there. But cold and water can be issues give Kids mineral water not local. Himachal Pradesh: Bhrigu, Beas Kund, Guna devi [Dharamshala], Deoriatal-Chandrashila Tadiandamol [Karnataka Coorg] - Given not so cold climate can start here for trek experience before moving to Himalayas.
