Ein gutes Konzept: heute sollen Weber von ihren Produkten leben können und das Kunsthandwerk weiter führen, damit es nicht in Vergessenheit gerät. Die hier zum Verkauf angebotenen Produkte von einzelnen Inseln wie Rai Jua, Lembata, Timor, Sawu, Sumba etc. sind authentisch. Das verwendete Material ist ausgezeichnet. Die Preise sind hoch, aber vollkommen angemessen. Daneben gibt es auch „modernere“ Produkte, wie Schals oder Kissen, ebenfalls von höchster Qualität (NACH OBEN).
Dennoch, die Stücke, die noch vor 30 Jahren und davor von Personen produziert wurden, die dies in der Zeit nach der Ernte „nebenbei“ taten, sind immer noch deutlich besser und vor allem intensiver.
Es bleibt ein Verdienst von „Threads of Life“ Threads of Life, die Traditionen indonesischer Textilkunst nicht in Vergessenheit geraten zu lassen. Als Liebhaber indonesischer Textilien, und das seit nunmehr 40 Jahren, waren wir sehr begeistert.
Wer nur einfach mal nach Indonesien reist und in die Kategorie des grünen und „elitären“ Gutmenschen gehört, für den ist Threads of Life ein „Muss“, um sich in der heimischen Blase wichtig zu machen und zu zeigen, wie man das einheimische Kunsthandwerk unterstützt.
Für Ästhetiker und tatsächlich am Land Interessierte ist der Besuch dieses Ladens ein intellektueller Genuss.

My mum and I did a half day Batik dying class today. The experience was wonderful: the instructor was very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. Would definitely come again for more workshops: highly experienced staff that were very accommodating.

Un lieu unique pour découvrir avec un immense plaisir tous les ikats et les techniques de tissage de tout l'Archipel Indonésien. Cette organisation soutient et promeut l'ensemble du travail des femmes qui tissent sur toutes les îles de l'Indonésie. De somptueuses pièces, un bonheur de passer un moment exceptionnel avec l'accompagnement et les explications des femmes de la boutique sur les différentes techniques de tissage et de teinture. Très bel endroit pour rêver de voyages ? et de nombreux objets mis en valeur dans un cadre somptueux;

We bought some unusual items on a trip to Flores Island when we were there in 2012...one was a ceremonial piece from Sumba that they had only seen one other time...They had some nice weavings there for sale and the work they do there to encourage the tribes on the islands to use renewable sources for weaving and dyeing was very good as they were using commercial chemical dyes before and they were polluting and expensive as opposed to natural and renewable with only their labor instead of money...this was.around 2012..so disregard the years posted below....

Beautiful indigo art and batik but very expensive! I understand that it is not mass production but I feel that the prices are outrageous.Friendly and lovely staff and worth a visit to enjoy!

Wildberry 18 for sushi. Since I'm allergic to shellfish they took special care to seperate the food and I had really tasty sushi.

Very short walk (5 mins) from main road; worth a visit, and make a purchase or two! No aggressive sales people, just genuine artifacts.

Just a small shop but what wonderful work they do by hand. Treasure the souvenirs you buy here. I bought a hand carved wooed hanger for my wall hanging that I will make from my Bali batiks.

Hi Chanda - it is possible to visit some of the places that weavers work - as the above says - Sideman and Tenganan are two such places. It takes more time and effort to get to any of the other areas we work as they are often very remote. Flores is quite accessible. Apologies for our late response but did not see this until now.
