What a great experience with Mr Deking and family during Batik class. Its take about 2,5 hours for the class and you can bring it home. It was great for beginner like us .....
Enjoy the environment in Balinese house with water fountain and nice garden, bird singing, and sometimes kids came out playing barong dance at the yard
It was amazing experience for us, highly recomended and will come back again next ❤️😇

My Mum and I attended Deking’s class together on our last day in Bali. It was such a fun and memorable experience. Deking is a wonderful teacher with the biggest smile. Very knowledgeable about Batik with many years of experience. Deking and his family host you in their family home which is beautiful. The garden is lush and the sound of the water fountains makes a tranquil environment for you to get lost in the art of batik. You will be delighted with your batik creations from the magic ink! An oasis after the busy streets of Ubud. A true experience of Balinese hospitality.

I was very lucky to be the only participant on the day I went for this batik class. I got the best personalized attention from Deking! The home where he lives and gives the classes is absolute beautiful...the garden is incredible and so peaceful.....it is a wonderful space to work in! Because I was the only one, I was able to lose myself in the tranquility and be very creative. I am not a patient person, so I made a few mistakes which Deking took care of for me. He is a wonderful instructor - very patient and non-judgmental. The banana fritters prepared by his wife were amazing! Take this class - you will not be disappointed.

Soooo glad we did this Batik class. The website didn't work so our hotel booked this for us. 450k per adult, 250k per child under 12. Pick up at 9am sharp. 10 minutes drive to outskirts of Ubud. Lovely Balinese family compound. Bapak Deking and his 2 sons deliver a fun class of traditional Batik. We were lucky to be the only ones in the morning class and got patient instructions. I would not recommend this for the under 10s as you are using traditional tools which require great finger dexterity and you are handling extremely hot wax. While they do fix your mistakes at the end, the course takes quite a lot of patience. The next day they were expecting a group of 45 and this would mean even more waiting for others and in between steps. You cannot move at your own pace. I was finished a lot quicker but had to wait for others to catch up to be able to start the next step. You have to do every step together as a group as you use different tools and wax and colour. We got to use 7 colours. If it's a big group, the number of colours is reduced to just one. A tip - I was quite conservative with my colours wheras my son went nuts and his looked like a psychedilc acid trip before dying the cloth and his turned out the most stunning of all of them. You have no idea what it looks like at the end anyway, so go crazy and experiment if you can.
We got a snack and then Bapak and his sons were dying and boiling the batiks while the smallest member of the extended family came to visit. Deking's dorable one - year old grandchild crawled around. Cutest baby I have ever seen. We had a great time. Back in Ubud at 1pm. Would go again ! Highly recommended.

I glanced at a few reviews before mine and the ones I saw are all spot on. The batik workshop with Deking is an absolutely delightful activity and I enjoyed every minute of it. You get picked up at your lodging and driven to a calm, serene and beautiful house and central area. It's quiet, calming and incredibly peaceful. Deking and the other teachers are lovely and walk you through all the intricate steps of the batik crafting -- hard wax, paraffin, color dyes (which mix like magic), and then more paraffin before the dip dye process. As previously mentioned, the snack they provide at break is outstanding and a nice time to enjoy the atmosphere without working on your piece.
I was here participating so I could learn about what my students do on their Global Leadership Adventures programs and I was so pleased with this cultural activity they get to take part in. Deking remembers our students coming each summer (we've been coming for a couple of years now) and we look forward to continuing. Highly recommend this workshop for anyone! (As long as you're patient and can sit still and focus on one project for three hours, of course.)

Visited with my husband. Collected from our hotel and taken to Deking's home. Felt very welcome and peaceful in the courtyard & gardens with koi carp pond & flowers all around. Deking was very patient and showed and helped us create beautiful batik artwork. We can't draw so well and altho bought some design ideas we choose to use Deking's pre drawn pieces as they were do nice. Learnt how to create batik fabric art and found it so relaxing. Time flew by. Deking's wife bought out banana fritters & tea and this was delicious. Other art workshops are available and if we have time we may try these too.

We were picked up at the airport by Pak Deking’s son and driven to their family home for the batik class. Had an excellent time at this family run batik class. Enclaved in an oasis of calm just a short turn from the main Jalan Raya Bedulu. Pak Deking was the main man in charge: walked us through patiently the batik process from design selection, to explaining the process of batik: drawing/tracing designs with hot wax, adding paragon, wrinkling, colour selection (was a little of a confusing process as different colour bases had to be matched to obtain the right colour), adding parafin again to protect colour, boiling and washing out the dye for the final product. Tea break was homemade banana fritters with shaved coconut pieces and palm sugar-super yums! My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our day and it was the best introduction to Bali culture and hospitality! Even transport back to Seminyak was arranged for our convenience.

We booked our time for the day before (online) and were met at our hotel right on time. The driver is Mr. Deking's son and chatted with us along the way about various things to do in Ubud and beyond.
When we arrived, we were met by Mr. and Mrs. Deking in the beautiful garden of their home. Mr. Deking is a retired art teacher, and shows patience and provides assistance to those who need it, and lets those who are more adventurous to go on ahead.
He sat with us the entire time, offered suggestions and assisted where things got a little tricky. He explained about batik and its role in Balinese culture. Options included creating your own design or choosing from a group of traditional designs. We used two different types of wax (beeswax and paraffin) and had a choice of many colours to apply.
Partway through, we were treated to tea and delicious banana and jackfruit fritters that Mrs. Deking had made.
Once we finished snacking we finished up our work, and Mr. and Mrs. Deking did the final dye bath and immersed the fabric in boiling water to remove the wax. Our batiks were wrapped in plastic to take with us (we hung them to finish drying once we returned to our hotel).
Altogether it was an afternoon of relaxing creativity. And something we could not have done at home! Highly recommended!

우붓을 여행하시는 한국사람들에게 바틱을 추천하고 싶어서 글을 남겨요.
선생님이 말하길 수업에오는 사람들중

여기서는 우붓 발리의 전통 염색기법인 바틱체험은 물론 우붓의 전통가옥(선생님 집이 정말 멋져요. 그래서 바틱수업 하는시간이 더욱 좋았음ㅋㅋ)구경도 할 수 있고. 그리고 간식으로 주시는 바나나브리따도 넘 맛있어요.
시간은 선택하는 코스에따라 2. 3시간 걸리구요

Good morning,,hope you are well. We are sorry for the late replay.
Thank you for contacting us at Deking Batik Class. We offer morning class at 9 or 10 am and afternoon class at 2 or 3 pm. If you have any other suitable time,please inform us. Class will take around 2 until 3 hours. The price is Rp 450.000 nett/ person,but for you we give special price at Rp 350.000nett/ person. Its already included all materials, free mineral water,tea or coffee assorted w/ banana cake and free shuttle for pick up and drop around Ubud area. You just email us for booking if you feel interest with our class.
