This used to be a really nice walk, but since the market has moved to Jalan Kajeng and many small shops try to sell their all-the-same stuff, it has become noisy and overcrowded, and I avoid it ever since.
There are plenty of nicer rice field walks where you can truly experience Bali's fascinating agriculture, if you step out of Ubud center and try your luck in one of the villages.

Торговая улочка, идущая от центра городка через 600 метров уходит вверх на холмик и далее превращается в тропу между полями риса. Ну как в тропу, асфальтированную дорожку с мотодвижением, на которой стоят несколько отельчиков. Красивые поля, вдали видна самая высокая гора острова. Прогуляться можно. Живописно.

This is a very beautiful walk - no more than about 2.5 miles in total. Take it slowly and take in the views, the wildlife - butterflies, ducks, egrets, rice heron, cats etc. Talk to people who live there - maybe a fruit seller, or sarong/drinks seller, and your visit will be enhanced. The way back and down into town is a little tricky unless you are nimble and sure-footed and not recommended in wet weather, but it is do-able. The cafe along the way, the Sweet Orange Warung was a treat, with specialised coffees and warm welcome with gorgeous views. It is easy to do this walk without a guide.

Once we reached the rice fields area, this was a superb walk with great views and few other people. Pit stop at Sweet zorange arung was also a highlgiht

A lovely walk right in the heart of Ubud. Walk up through the markets on JL Kajeng and turn left. After the sign that says no cars walk another 100m up a hill, then it opens into a fantastic walk in rice fields. Follow it around to the Sweet Orange Cafe for a lovely cool drink and meal. Then its better to turn back towards the markets.

This walk was the unexpected highlight of our brief stay in Ubud, and a nice respite from the noise and the traffic.
The walk is a loop to and from the main street of Jl. Raya Ubud that can be started from either the market that adorns Jl. Kajeng outside Saraswati Temple, or at the other end, a few hundred metres further down the road, in an almost hidden path that pops out between the museum and the Paon Seafood restaurant.
The first hundred metres along Jl. Kajeng competes with crowds, markets and scooters, before it becomes a much quieter and scenic road. At the top of the small hill it becomes a footpath, and then you veer off left into the rice paddies. At this point the walk and the views get better with every step, especially once you turn back towards Ubud and head towards Sweet Orange Warung, which is a great place for a break and drink.
The last section of the walk is a bit tricky, involving a narrow rough path clinging to the side of buildings, before it eventually pops out back onto Jl. Raya Ubud a short distance from where you started.
It can be done in both directions, but doing the start in reverse is tricky and hard to find.
A short distance into the path you’d forget you were anywhere near the noise and chaos of Ubud’s main streets.

Heading to Ubud we had heard about the Campuhan Ridge Walk, but very little about this walk through the rice fields. We stumbled across a sign pointing us towards them and we decided to go. A great decision. The walk through these fields are incredibly scenic and really give off that Bali vibe. It was a quiet walk with only a few other people. When you get to the end, it's best to just turn around and go back to the beginning (the main street). It's completely free. Highly recommend.

In het centrum van Ubud loop je richting Café Lotus en neemt de 1e straat rechts, de Jalan Kajeng, de straat met de grote cementtegels met diverse namen. (in deze straat is er nu tijdelijk de Ubud Art Market) In loop van tijd is er veel veranderd, sedert 2014 is de route en de weg wat verschoven. In begin loopt de weg wat steil, maar daarna krijg je de mooie rijstvelden te zien. Soms zie je nog hoe de boeren of vrouwen op de rijstvelden werken en nog steeds gebruikmaken van oude gebruiken, of hoe de rijst wordt geoogst. Maar kijk ook uit voor de vele brommers die hier voorbij komen. Wil je een kortere weg, volg dan: Sweet Orange warung (Subak Juwuk Manis Rice Field) Maar blijf je de weg volgen, dan kom je langs de vele villa's en het Luxe Villas Bali hotel. Daarna wordt het pad veel smaller en moet je langs het water over de betonnen verhogingen of keerwanden die langs het water (sloot) loopt. We konden tot het einde lopen, een klein stukje over de keerwand met water, naar een bruggetje. Daar ga je links en dan kom je terug langs Cafe Pomegranate en andere warungs en verder, totdat je uiteindelijk terugkomt in Jl Raya Ubud. De wandeltocht is soms een avontuurlijke onderneming, maar het is echt prachtig. En gratis.

It's a rice field, but the easiest to access. Worth popping your head in for a quick shopping break.

Prachtige wandeling door de jungle en tussen de rijstvelden door. Af en toe een beetje smal langs het water maar zeker aan te raden. Mooi rondje vanaf de markt.

Meeting points would be Alaya Hotel Ubud at 15:00. we would like to have a nice tour of about 3.5 hours and visit Tegalalang Rice Terrace in the evening for sunset.
Maybe one nice place before that.

It certainly wasn't wet when we walked it. The path itself isn't rough, uneven or boggy. I think you can assume that you can wear whatever you like on your feet.

Ok so I am in Ubud and am able to navigate the streets on a wheelchair (having to get up and down from it (I can walk a few meters with crutches) because of scooters on the pathway. Will I be able to go to the rice fields in a wheelchair? Is it pathed?

Hi ,do we need a guide for this walk and if not where do we start our walk from.. we are in our mid 60,s withme of medium fitness level , its our first time in Bali and am not sure if we can do this on our own

hi! you can do it on your own. you just need basket shoes or a good pair of sandals. it starts left from from Puri Lukasam museum. the beginning is an unappealing narrow path. For 400 meters.
