I enjoyed coming here it is well maintained and worth seeing. You really need a guide to get you there as it is well hidden in a narrow street. You do not need to spend too much time here but as visiting is included in the cost of your entry card to the town it is worth seeing.

Een kleine kapel in een achterafstraatje. De jongedame die er zat gaf uitleg over verschillende dingen die er te zien zijn. En natuurlijk de snuisterijen die je kunt kopen. In 20 minuten had ik het wel gezien.

Wir sind eher zufällig in einer kleinen Gasse in der Nähe des japanischen Viertels auf diese schöne kleine Kapelle gestoßen. Irgendwie kam ich mit dem netten Besitzer und Nachfahre der Gründerfamilie ins Gespräch, der uns freundlich und zwanglos hereinbat und uns ein wenig herumführte.
Die elegante Architektur verschiedener Strömungen, sowie die ruhige Atmosphäre etwas abseits des großen Trubels dürften viele Besucher der Stadt besonders nach einem lange und anstrengenden Tag in der vollen Altstadt ansprechen.
Der Besitzer stellt hinten in der Kapelle auch ein paar selbst gemalte Bilder im schönen altvietnamesischen Stil aus, die er gerne vorstellt ohne einem gleich das Gefühl zu geben, auch was kaufen zu müssen.
Ein wirklicher schöner Ort, um mal etwas zu entspannen und ein bisschen Ruhe zu genießen:)

Visited the chapel last week, the guide was very knowledgeable and explained the different architectural styles not only of the chapel but of HoiAn in general. Gave us a great insight into HoiAn, very passionate about the chapel and it's history. As always there is the souvenir shop at the end of the tour but unlike other places we weren't pushed into buying, the guide left us alone and we ended up buying two of his paintings that he autographed with beautiful calligraphy.

The chapel is relatively easy to find, signposted to the right, tucked away down a narrow street/alley away from the main street a few minutes after you walk over the Japanese bridge from the Old Town direction. We were the only folk to be visiting and spent a pleasant half hour / forty minutes enjoying the privacy and intimate atmosphere. Totally agree with the comments it's a hidden gem and worth the visit. Reference to comments that the owner pressurises visitors to sell his art. Yes he is attentive and yes he invites you to look at his art work. BUT if you don't like/want to buy - say no and walk away. That said the art work offered is equally as good as that sold along the main tourist streets, it is unframed, easier to pack and sold at sensible prices. For any visitors who are thinking of leaving 'negative' comments, we sensed the owner was 'desperate' in his need to sell. As a resident French Professor we had supper with in Saigon flagged to us; "wages are low, education is paid for as is health care here". So for tourists from wealthier parts of the world (though perhaps not culturally) many who have access and choice to either state or private education, health care, pensions, etc. - please think about this before you write.

We were strolling around the city, when my boyfriend met Tung, the owner of the chapel. He speaks english very Well and is very educated and friendly and he showed him some vietnamese phrases. We talked longer with him and he showed us his beautiful little chapel, which is wonderfully built and a very quiet Place to escape the busy City. He explained very much to about the little details and the interesting history of the chapel and showed us his delicate little paintings of flowers and the city of Hoi An. He didn‘t push us to Buy anything, because he understood that we were just Students, but i liked some sunflowers so much that i bought Them for a reasonable price and he even did some calligraphy on the painting for us ! It is the perfect present and honestly the best and personal experience in Hoi An for us !
We will definitely come back to Hoi An and meet Tung again:)

Came across this chapel looking through the old town - well worth a quick stop. Nice architecture & personal tour from owner / descendant of family. Nice to have some history & has a table of art works which you can buy as souvenirs if you like

Whilst visiting some of the ancient buildings of Hoi An, I visited this lovely chapel. It is small and whilst there is less than in some of the other buildings, there is no push to buy goods. It is also in a rather nice quiet part of town (near the Nu Eatery) and is lovely spot when the heat and tourists become too much. This was one of the places that I felt I was able to talk to locals a little more about Vietnamese history and literature. When I returned with my daughter and wife we were welcomed back and offered iced tea. So whilst it will only take 5-10 minutes of your time, it is lovely and friendly.
