A must-go place if you're in Kuching... you'll get to learn more about their cultures and foods... also, enjoy wonderful performances after the tour of the houses before ending it. I might return again just for the snacks and the performances even though it was scorching hot haha

To understand what we were going to visit, before we left we had inquired about the tribes, their houses and their customs, which allows us not to arrive hands in pockets and understand nothing. Around a lake you will find the traditional houses of the 7 tribes that inhabit Sarawak, with different entertainment, without going for any purchase. At 11:30, it's the show (there's another one after) and there are people. It's a very nice show. Then we have lunch on site: very good

They show you the different houses where they lived through the history of Malaysia. It is an open-air museum and shows you the typical houses through history. It is clear that two tribes who cut their heads between them would never live nearby. The houses are a representation. The theater show was very enjoyable, in the only place that had air conditioning. It was a heat incorporateable, and it was grateful to come and sit about 40 minutes. In Malaysia no one speaks Spanish, but if you get a good Guide, and you speak the language, you understand everything. No one said that they lived there all mixed.I found interesting, how they lived, how they slept, where they cooked...but for tastes...colors.Entry was 99 ringgint, not 99 Euros, which come to do 21€.If you are interested in history, do not miss it, if you are looking for other entertainment, do not go.

Expensive entrance fee (online - RM90, walk in - RM95). No Malaysian rate except for Sarawakians, which means Peninsula Malaysians have to pay the same price as foreigners. Personally, I don't find it worth the money paid.

A great place to visit to understand Sarawak culture and people's way of life. The buildings are very beautiful, I hope they can be maintained better.

The place is beautiful (a small lake surrounded by houses of different ethnicities) and you can imagine the expectations raised by this great project when it was built. But neither the ethnological explanations (very few) nor the interview are up to the task. Staff are only interested in selling their crafts or pastries and filming themselves and looking at their smartphones. Most houses are not even open or understaffed. A Bidayou will be in place of a Penan etc... the show is interesting, the dancers seem to take a lot of pleasure. Entrance guards are kind to help find a taxi because no public transport to there, it does the trick for taxis and tour operators (remember to download the Grab app: Uber local 2 to 3 times cheaper than taxis but not sure there are in this area)
The restaurant is a tourist catcher: everything is bad.

Interesting to see, in a short time, the type of constructions used in Sarawk as well as the dances of the different villages. What must improve is the supply of restaurants

I had planned to do this on my own but am so glad I took a tour guide. There are very few explanations and without a guide you would simply wander from one house to another with no knowledge of the ethnic culture of each group. The cultural performance was professional with added humour.

About a 50min drive away from Kuching city, Sarawak Cultural Village is definitely something one should not miss out on. You can go on a tour, but I'd rather prefer to just go free and easy, and I was so glad I did.
The village showcases the different houses of each tribe found in Sarawak. And do bring along cash, since each house sells some tidbits/snacks that is popular to that tribe. As for me, by the third house, I was stuffed. They can, and only was this realised later, that they can give you one or two pieces for cheaper price, so you can still try all the snacks fresh from cooking.
Additionally, some of the houses will have performances to welcome the guests to that tribe's house. Take.a seat and enjoy, or better yet, partake in their activities as well.
Another not miss, and I cannot stress how this is a not to miss or you would regret it situation, is the 2x daily performance.
After walking in the hot sun, take a seat in the aircon theatre. (Please note, no food and drinks allowed, or more like no visible water bottles or food allowed. Keep it in your bag).
Anywho, back to to the performance. It displays all the dance native to each tribe, and quick hint. The 2 performances I enjoyed the most had to do with poles. Watch it and you will know. (And I' not talking about pole dancing, mind you. This is a family friendly establishment.)
After the performance, audience members are invited to get up on stage and dance as well. This really cements the learning experience and cultural experience one could have at the village.
If you opted for the meals that comes after the performance, then go ahead. I understand it features local Sarawak food, but I did not try it out, since we already had it in the prior days.
I cannot stress this is a not to be missed place when you visit Sarawak.

Beautiful setting and reconstructed longhouses but not all have staff to explain the nuances of the houses. There are placards with QR codes but I didn’t want to spend my battery so signs with text would have been much more preferred!! The 45-minute dance performance at the end was a highlight. Beautiful costumes and music. The ticket is quite expensive but slightly cheaper if bought online.
There is also a poor, whelping scruffy, medium terrier milling around. Please someone feed it!! And eventually spay. Shame on the site management for not caring for this poor pup.

I am writing to inquire about the transportation options available from Grand Margherita Hotel to Sarawak Cultural Village, as mentioned by the Sarawak Tourism Board.
Could you please provide me with the bus schedule for this service?
Additionally, I would like to know if it is necessary to make a reservation for the transportation to Sarawak Cultural Village?
Thank you and hope to hear from you soon

Hi, as far as I remember there is no bus from Kuching to the village. We had a hire car for our 5 day stay which we picked up at the airport.
The other option for you is to go on a tour, which picks up at the major hotels, but we found them to be expensive.
As for the pre booking, wouldn’t say it was necessary if you are planning a visit in the “off season”, please be aware we thought it was well worth the visit, but a little expensive
Hope this helps?

I am not sure too, we booked online for the Rainforest Music Festival so the entrance fees is included and we use barcode to scan the entrance

Hi, May I know is Grabcar easily available at Sarawak Cultural Village?
Đã viết vào 22 tháng 8, 2018
We took small regular van back to Kuching. From memory 10 MR per person, which was double what locals paid. Still hardly a fortune.
You could get a Grab there and van back? Unless make other arrangements with someone living in the area.

You can book online directly on their website but like the rest, just turn up and buy your tickets at the entrance. Skip the buffet lunch - just breeze through the village then find a sumptuous lunch in town :0).
