Theater is clean and well-run. The "Big D" offers a Big Screen experience of a big city theater. There is a dispense if you want extra wd-40 on your popcorn.

This is a newer building with nice, comfortable seats that even rock. Feels like you are sitting at home in your ezchair with cup holders. The screen is huge and there is lots of seating. The movie was great.
Now for the negative...the place was filthy. Before and after the movies they have employees picking up the big trash and then they use a blower to blow the popcorn that was dropped on the floor. I would suggest bringing wipes to clean your own seats though. There was food and drink spilled on the majority of the seats and they didn't clean them between shows. Was disgusting.

My wife and I go a couple times a month on Tuesdays. The seats tilt back and are very comfortable. We recommend Tuesdays because all the movies showing are $5.00. In addition, you get a small soda and pop corn combo for $5.00. The smalls are a good size small. Any other time you would pay a ridiculous $14 for the 2 items. The self serve soda selection is awesome with any thing you can think of to mix, I like self serve butter for the pop corn I recommend joining Stubs program for freebies and specials.I only gave 4 stars because pop corn and soda are very high profit items and believe those 2 items could be more reasonable on days other than just Tuesday.

Different place to go. Lots of room, have to walk up stairs to each level of chairs (But, they have a level spot in front) and have a big list of movies to choose from.

Enjoyed a day with my Husband in Altoona today and decided to enjoy a movie. Our first visit to this lovely place of entertainment. Outside and inside was clean and tidy. Employees were nice. We had decided to purchase a pretzel and was made aware of the size of the purchase and given options. That’s hospitality! Enjoyed the relaxed seating and 3D settings. Ticket prices were better than other places I’ve been to. We will be back!

This is the nicest theatre that I’ve been to that’s not near me. It’s clean, seats are comfy, sound and picture quality is great! Friendly staff. Would definitely visit again!

Like the extras joining the club gives me....only have the free version but that works for me....five dollar tuesdays a favorite.....

My wife and I went to movies at both AMC's in Altoona. This is by far the nicest one. The theaters in our community have gone to reclining leather lounge chairs - so the stadium seating at this location was a little dated for us, but it was still much nicer than the theater at Logan Valley Mall.

I love heading up for a movie here, though it's now AMC. The theaters are very comfortable. There is a nice selection of food and drinks (including those for adults). The reward card is worth the price.

First off, the theater itself is great and I used to love coming to see the newest epics in the Big D Theater, which is an amazing experience. Things dramatically changed, however, when AMC recently took it over from Carmike Cinemas. The quality/number of staff decreased, the rewards program decreased, the upkeep of the common areas and restrooms declined, but the ticket and concession prices skyrocketed.
I took my two young sons to see "Cars 3" for a 1 o'clock showing on Saturday June 17th. For a matinee show to a kids movie I was expecting to pay less than a normal movie. After purchasing three drinks to go along with the three tickets to the showing in the Big D Theater, my total was $50.27. Nearly $31 for tickets and $19 for drinks. I was absolutely appalled. I could have waited two months and bought the movie on Blu-ray almost three times over for that price.
Needless to say, I will not be returning to the AMC Theater in Altoona because the nice seats do not warrant the extremely high costs. I wish Carmike would never had sold to the China owned AMC.

Do all 12 theaters have all reclining seats? I noticed a couple other reviewers on other sites said theirs didnt, which seemed strange. I was thinking they might not have known how to use it.
