I flew from Kuala Lumpur to Chaoshan airport and took a train to Xiamen. I was in Xiamen for 3 days and on my return to Shantou, I visited Chaozhou. The bus from the Chaoshan bullet train station to Chaozhou city cost me RMB 8. Chaozhou did not impress me as a modern city with skyscrapers, condominiums and commercial premises like Shantou or Xiamen. Instead, it looks more like a city in the 80s of Singapore with old dwellings and shop houses. Nevertheless, the ancient attractions seem well preserved.
Chaozhou was just a walkable little town and I managed to cover most of the attractions that were concentrated near the West Lake in just half a day. I did not find a lodging here and instead took the bus back to the airport to sleep.
The weather in this region was rather hot and dry in October. I expected it to be cooler but throughout my 10 days here, it hardly rains. It was scorching hot when I was at the Arch Street in Chaozhou in the afternoon. I strolled my way between rows of eateries and passed under 22 of the arches sweating profusely and eventually found myself at the river boulevard.
The Binjiang Gallery boasts of scenic river view overlooking the Hanjiang River and the Guangji Bridge. It was windy and relaxed as I strolled my way along this long boulevard. I found the boulevard clean and there were seats provided for visitors to rest.
It reminds me of the boulevard of my Singapore River. From the gallery, I could see the city fortress wall guarding at the front of the Chaozhou city. There was a long queue of visitors at the entrance of Guangji Bridge, everyone hoping to walk from the boats to the adjoining bridge. I was in a hurry to visit the rest of the attractions and did not join the long queue.
The Teochew people are an adventurous lot as many flocked overseas and became rich entrepreneurs. I supposed the Hanjiang River must have inspired many to explore abroad. Looking at the river from the Binjiang Gallery, many must have wondered what extend beyond the horizon of the river. Today, the foot prints of the Teochew overseas Chinese are found all over the world.
Both the boulevards in Shantou and Chaozhou boast of long great galleries and the close proximity to the sea inspired dreams and the adventurous spirit to explore and search for better living abroad.
The Binjiang Gallery in Chaozhou is indeed a cooling and relaxed place to enjoy a meditative stroll after savoring the delicious food at the Arch Street. It may take more than an hour to walk through the lengthy boulevard.

因為沒什麼礙眼的建築，所以在一片青山綠水中欣賞景色，不僅是韓江、韓山，更可多角度地觀看廣濟橋，隨著天色的變化，清風徐徐，不用門票，不趕行程，在品嚐美食的西馬路後，濱江長廊風光正好。

A Must go. One of the main tourist attraction one must go when visiting Chao Zhou. Well worth a visit!

來到潮州，也算是第二個景點，就是濱江長廊大道。說真，這是我們真真正正下旅遊巴之後的第一個腳踏實地景點。
濱江長廊很長，由潮州城的外圍進入城中的主要景點，也有很長的一段路程，所以旅行團建議我們每人付15元，坐電瓶車遊江邊同進出城區。
慢慢行，是可以細味韓江兩岸的景色及古城牆的風光。但，坐電瓶車遊，也有大同小異的風景，而且不一會，我們就到了廣濟門同廣濟橋的旁邊了。

初游滨江长廊会给人一种身临古墙边缘的感觉。由于临近韩江，炎热的夏天也会带给人丝丝的凉意。它适合全家集体游玩的地方，特别是带着小孩走走广济桥（又叫湘子桥），摸摸传说中被河水冲走的“牲牛”，周边也有其他几个景点：金山古松、牌坊街、开元寺等等。再则，“古墙”有四个古城门，整体走过可能需要1、2个小时，城门下有一些小贩叫卖着小玩意之类的物品，不过大体都没什么特色吧。如果真的想买一些东西留作纪念的话，像“老佛手”等凉品就很不错。

美丽的滨江长廊，古典气息很浓厚，很有特色。很喜欢站在桥上看风景的那种感觉。静静地感受着迎面吹来的江风，听着音乐。看着江边那些神情悠然的垂钓者认真的钓鱼，是一件多么惬意的事情啊。累了还可以步行去牌坊街吃小吃，方便。

主角是广济桥，配角是滨江长廊。人们主要来此，就是要看广济桥。但玫瑰虽美，也得靠绿叶来衬托！滨江长廊，就背负着这么一项重要的使命！它让我们看到了广济桥的伟大与美丽。长廊也有不少垂钓者，希望他们都会有收获！不妨也在此拍下广济桥与韩江，留下美好的记忆。也别省那￥50了，就在此踏上广济桥，徒步跨越韩江吧！

滨江长廊位于潮州人民的母亲河韩江边，依江而建。春天的滨江长廊开满了红色的木棉花，整条长廊都是火红火红的。在春天，我们还可以观赏到潮州八景之一的“湘桥水涨”，一睹韩江水在春天时的风姿。
仲夏夜的长廊凉风习习，风从江面吹来，凉意十足，是市民还有游客休闲散步的好去处。

一边是古香古色的城墙，一边是宁静的韩江水。。。景点翻新的时间不久，比较干净舒适。提示：别挑游客多的时间，傍晚时分是不错选择

在韩江边，吹着丝丝的凉风，感受滨江长廊那如诗如画的美丽景色，心境也开阔了许多。看木棉花絮飘飞，观中国四大古桥之一的广济桥，的确是人生一大享受。
