You can't bring bags into the museum. This is the first time I was asked not to bring bags after visiting hundreds of museums. Very barbaric. It doesn't look like a museum at all. Where is the humanistic care? The exhibition layout of the Silk Road Pearl Exhibition Hall on the second floor is chaotic. A lot of money was spent on making screens, but they couldn't properly explain how the Yanghai Tomb Group was divided and judged, and they didn't explain the progress of archaeology, nor did they explain which eras the tomb group includes. The exhibition path is very unclear, and you often have to find the viewing order. It's just flattering the authorities, and you can't feel the sincerity of social education. The mummy exhibition on the third floor is worth seeing, but it's a pity that the intangible cultural heritage is not open. In general, the museum exhibition layout is not good, and social education is not emphasized. It is very bureaucratic. The first floor promotes Western hatred, only displays when someone robbed a certain tomb, and does not explain where the stolen items are currently displayed, the progress of negotiations to retrieve cultural relics, and the research methods and restoration progress. A very important information on the first floor is the Nestorian part. The exhibition hall on the second floor barely mentions it (most of the texts were photographed, but I have no impression of this part), and the closing remarks on the third floor also raise big questions (Christianity was mentioned but not in the content). In general, the exhibition logic and social education are very poor. The exhibition hall just gives people a very lively feeling. You need to read all three floors of exhibition halls to connect all the information. The dinosaur exhibition is also like reading a book. The fossil location, species and biological research significance are not listed, which is very confusing. This is the worst museum I have visited since Xining, Suzhou, Gaotai and Dunhuang.

Le Musée n’est pas très grand mais intéressant. Quelques salles autour de l’histoire locale. Plus intéressant : une grande salle avec plusieurs squelettes de dinosaures assez impressionnants et une autre salle où sont présentés des corps retrouvés dans des sépultures aux pieds des montagnes de feu. Certains sont encore vêtus de leurs habits, presque intacts, et tous sont bien conservés avec la peau tannée façon cuir (et ils ont plus de 2000 ans !). Cette conservation étonnante est due au climat très chaud et sec de l’oasis.

A great place to stop prior to heading out to see the various silk road sites around Trupan. Gives a great over view as to how the area was vital to the silk road for trading, water and agriculture. The mummies are pretty cool, well presented as to how they were found in their tombs. The fossil room is.... a fossil room.

The Turpan museum is free. You first go through a security check at the gate, then show identification to receive tickets in a nearby office. There are free lockers outside to store any personal items before entry into the museum. The museum is on two floors. The first floor has exhibits on the history of the Turpan Region, which include Han and Tang dynasty displays, but also goes back as far as prehistoric ages. We were most interested in the Silk Road displays which showed the importance of Turpan on the route. There were terracotta figurines, clothing, utensils and weapons on display. Our favourite displays were the dinosaur exhibits and the sculptures of "protecting" creatures found at ancient graveyards.
On the second floor, the mummies are the main attraction. We were particularly interested in the tattoos displayed on the hands of the mummies. The mummies seemed to have been taken from the Astana and Yanghai cemeteries. We enjoyed viewing the mummy displays here, as we had been rushed in Urumqi at the Regional Museum due to the crowds. There were very few persons here, so we were able to slowly walk through the exhibits. There was also a display of a burial urn used by the Sogdians, who practiced Zoroastrianism.
We exited the museum through a well stocked gift shop. The exit actually leads to the rear of the museum in the parking lot, which we thought was quite strange. There are a few uighur reliefs in white on the external walls of the museum that you would probably have missed had you exited at the entrance area. The museum is in the central area of town on Laocheng East Road, and can be easily reached by walking, bus or taxi. Other nearby attractions include Shenhong Square, Qingnian Road Pedestrian Street and Tourism Cultural Square.

Nice little museum with free entry (you still need to get a ticket at the gate) bring passports, we had to show ours 3 times in 5 minutes.
There are 3 main displays, the history of the area, a section on natural history with various skeletons and the 3rd section on mummies.
All the exhibits have information in English.
A nice stop to cool off.

Free entry. Very informative. Several mummies from excavated tombs, fascinating. Puts the area in context, learnt a lot about the history, English captions. More info available here than at tourist sites. Shops on ground floor good for small souvenirs at low prices. Well worth a visit.

綺麗なミイラがたくさんあるのは、目玉の展示物なのだと思います。が、気になったのは、建物入り口の警戒態勢。入口の防備が物々しく、一方でわざとらしい。

If you are visiting Turpan during the warm/hot months, visiting the museum is a wonderful break from the heat. Great exhibits on the history of the XinJiang area. The museum also has a wonderful gift shop, especially if you are wanting to buy some postcards, which can be hard to find in XinJiang. Make sure to take a walk through the park afterwards and stop at the Herembeg Uighur restaurant for lunch or supper either before or after your trip to the museum. Bring water.

吐魯蕃で徒歩でいける唯一の？観光スポットだと思います。
たしか、無料だったと思いますが、入館の際にパスポートチェックを受、荷物はロッカーに預ける必要があります。そして身体検査でライターを取られました。
中は３階建てで、吐魯蕃近辺で発掘された化石やミイラ、土器などが展示されています。
スタッフは多いものの、緩めな雰囲気は悪くなかったと思います。
ただ、1時間は持たないです！
少し時間が空いた時や、通りかかった時に行けば十分ですね。
