Au point de vue prix, il faut reconnaître que c'est plus élevé par rapport aux boutiques de "souvenirs", mais l'artisanat fait main authentique des minorités ethniques est de grande qualité. Comme on ne va pas au VIET NAM souvent, autant en profiter pour ramener des produits de qualité. Vos achats aident en plus ces minorités à se développer économiquement. Merci pour eux.

Our timing for visiting Sapa was unfortunate. The day before we arrived, all of the usual craft sellers in CatCat village had been quarantined due to Covid19 exposure, so we never had a chance to shop the way most tourists do. I was interested in Indigo batik work and was happy to come across this shop on our way back from CatCat. For a small shop they carry a nice variety from small trinkets to special items like hand woven, hand dyed hemp by the yard. Some items might be a bit pricey compared to bargaining in a village, but I was glad that they were open and willing to sell to me. While we shopped a street seller waited for us to buy something from her - I feel for the people here, tourists mostly gone and many of the local business people afraid to be in contact with outsiders because of virus fears - so I bought a small scarf from her also. So patient.

I am greatly interested in art of fabrics. My husband took me for super treking combined with batik workshop from Indigo Cat. We had a scenic walk for about 10 km from Sa Pa to Ta Van village where the sweetest and lovely teacher had showed me the secrets of batik making and indigo. You have to reserve minimum 3 hours for the whole process. It is such a meticulous and complex craft and everyone interested in artisan work and diy will greatly enjoy it. My teacher was very patient and truly applied learning by doing method of educating. I was so satisfied with observing her work, teach and also happy with the effect. Additionally we made a little shopping on the spot. Highly recommend this very unique and rare experience.

My friend from back home loves the colour indigo and I had an intuitive idea that places in Vietnam made beautiful textiles, upon a little research I found Indigo Cat in Sa Pa. It is quality and so pleasing to my heart and soul, I spent a good 45min being among the beauty. I bought gifts for myself and for my friend and family. If you love surrounding yourself with beauty its a must visit :)

If you want to find some great souvenirs from Sapa but don't want to haggle like crazy at the market this is your store!. Indigo Cat has the same beautiful souvenirs at great prices that you can find in the market.

my name is Ignacio and I visited the store with my father when in Sa Pa. The store had a great variety of products, all fully hand-made by local artisans that work cooperatively.
Given the enormous Chinese production of souvenirs, most of tourist get these standarised pieces, affecting local productions and employment. Thus, ancestral tradition are also getting progressively erased.
But, by purchasing this products (at a really good price) you'll contributing to preserve these traditions and give employment to the marvelous artisans.
Staff is really kind and ready to answer all your enquiries.

론리플래닛 책에서도 자세하게는 안나와있고, 뭔가 수업이 있다는데 후기도 찾기 힘들어서 고민하다가 숙소에 내렸는데 완전 가까이 매장이 있길래 들어가서 문의했더니 아주 친절하게 이야기 해주셨습니다. 그리고 애기 너무 귀여워서 몇마디 주고 받다가 흐몽 어로 고맙다랑 안녕 알려줬습니다. 후기를 쓰다보니 친구 이름을 못 물어본 게 아쉽습니다. 다음에 또 방문하게 되면 다시 들리고 싶습니다.그래서 다음날 택시 타고 타반마을에 있는 인디고 캣 으로 가서 미미 와 함께 염색 체험을 했습니다. 사실 처음에는 그렇게 재미있을 것 같진 않았지만 궁금해서 해보고 싶었는데 결론은 너무 재밌었습니다. 나중엔 셋다 아무말 없이 왁스를 이용해서 천에 그리는데 그 컬러링 북 하는 것 보다 더 집중해서 뭔가를 하는 느낌이 좋았습니다. 중간 중간 트래킹하던 손님들이 미미의 가게로 홀린 듯이 들어와 이것저것 물어보느라 미미가 바쁠 때가 있었는데, 주변 주민분들이 와서 막 말도 걸어주시고 도와주시고 해서 더 즐거웠던 것 같습니다. 염색하는데 시간이 걸려서 옆에 식당에서 밥 먹고 왔더니 진짜 예쁘게 염색이 되어있어서 기분이 정말 좋았습니다. 엄마도 진짜 신 나서 계속 이걸로 에코백에 달아서 가방을 만들자며 좋아하셨습니다. 비가 많이 와서 체험 후 타반 마을 트래킹을 하지 못했지만 가능 하다면 체험 후 트래킹 하고 하면 좋겠다는 생각이 들었습니다. 물건도 예쁜게 많아서 홀린듯이 샀는데, 이게 진짜 손으로 다 하루하루 만들다보니 고민하다가 다음날 갔더니 마음에 들었던 게 사라져서 마음이 아팠습니다ㅜㅠㅠ 바로 샀어야했는데ㅠㅠ 내 물병주머니ㅠㅠ

Je suis d'abord allée à la boutique dans le centre ville de sapa et cela m'a permit non seulement de voir les vrais prix des pièces qu'on allait ensuite me proposer sans cesse dans la rue mais aussi de découvrir un travail de très grande qualité !
J'ai su qu'il y avait possibilité de prendre un cours de batik avec la belle mère du gérant de la boutique. Mais dans le village de Ta van. Et comme je partais faire un trek de 2 jours 1 nuit dans ce village le jour suivant, on m'a proposé de le faire pendant ce trek.
La dame est très gentille, très pédagogue, et même si elle ne parle pas beaucoup anglais on s'est tout à fait comprises à force de sourires et de gestes. Elle m'a montré les gestes pour déposer la cire et très vite jai pu me débrouiller toute seule.
J'ai découvert alors aussi dans la boutique du village de nouvelles pièces de ses créations. Son travail est tellement beau !
Je suis moi même artisan d'art et enseignante et je suis bien placée je pense pour dire que ce cours est vraiment chouette !

We went here twice, returned after going to the Bac Ha market which had zero in terms of fine textiles. She has a very good eye for quality and has put together some very beautiful and creative large wall hangings which I would have bought one if I had room in my suitcase. Her prices were very fair. Her collection is excellent.

Weaving is currently not available but I highly recommend you our batik classes which are a great success. You can get more information at our shop in Sapa. Please book one day in advance. Cheers.
