We did the dads army tour the gentleman running it were knowledgeable and friendly
We felt it was good value for money and the tea and scones and the end were great.
The information was amazing and the people running it were enthusiastic and organised.

Well worth a visit, I’m a massive fan of the show, even non fans I feel would enjoy the museum, the characters extremely knowledgeable with facts and played the parts excellently

What a great experience. My cousin is an avid fan and we travelled up from Gloucester to see it. Brilliantly laid out very knowledgeable volunteers who make the experience even better. Make sure u visit the tearoom. Carry on lads and ‘don’t panic’ Thank you

A small museum which is a lovely mix of the TV show, it’s actor and writers, the town’s community involvement plus history of the times. Run by an enthusiastic group of volunteers. A visit to the recreated “Marigolds Cafe” for tea (or coffee) and cake (1940s recipes- slightly adapted for our era) is recommended

We enjoyed a fabulous visit to the Dad's Army Museum on Saturday. Two of the volunteers in full Home Guard uniform opened the door to us and we began with a cup of tea in the Marigold Tea Rooms. The exhibits are fascinating and really celebrate everything about Dad's Army. There are some amazing photographs of the cast and crew and the volunteers are super knowledgeable and friendly. A brilliant experience - thank you to Mark and all the volunteers.

Regrettably the Dad's Army Museum was closed on the day of our visit, but we did manage to spot several of the characters around town!
The sun was shining so we took the opportunity to go down by the river where we were able to watch a kingfisher dart about the river edge.

Enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and a look round this little gem of a place that celebrates all things Dad's Army, run by volunteers, well worth a look

We have just been on the Dads Army walking tour of Thetford followed by a cup of tea in Marogolds tea room and a visit to the super Dads Army museum. If you are a fan of the brilliant comedy of the late 60s and early 70s this is an absolute must! The volunteer staff are incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining and the walking tour which reveals some of the locations featured in the series is really interesting.

An absolute credit to both Dad’s Army and Thetford.
Visited the museum on Saturday and was very impressed both with everything on display and especially the staff members who made all feel welcome.we also went on the Sunday morning walking tour which is an absolute must !! Many thanks to Mark.Rod and Derek for a great Dads army experience!! 👏👏

The wonderful volunteers Mark and Derek (in uniform) were amazing. We took a group of students and we were treated to loads of information, annocdotes, photo opportunities and warm humour.
The students really enjoyed the whole experience, as did the staff. Definitely highly recommend. 👌

Entry to the museum is free.
Open every Saturday 10-3
The walking tour tickets are £12.50 per person. Our tours take place on set dates throughout the year.
The remaining 2019 tour dates are listed on our website in the webshop

Apologies only just seen this question. Dads Army Museum closed in in winter, re-opens Saturday 23 March, only opem on Satyurdays as all volunteer staff, hours circa mid-morning to mid-afternoon, great cafe, noty sure about dogs. Please check their website

Hi Christine, it's Corinne here from Thetford's Great Information Centre, apologies in the delay in coming back to you. he Dad's Army Museum opened again for the new season on 18th March. It will now be open every Saturday until 2nd December. it also opens on Tuesdays in Norfolk School Holidays and throughout July, August and September. Entry is free but they welcome donations. There is a also a shop and a tea room.
Do you open during the week as I look after a adult with learning difficulties who loves dads army and we in thetford on a Monday

Hi there, Dad's Army Museum opens every Saturday and Tuesdays in Norfolk School Holidays. It is, however, worth contacting the museum to see if a private visit can be arranged. I am not allowed to post a website link but if you search for dads army thetford you will find it. I will also pass your message to them direct.

We are off to visit the Dad's Army museum and do the walking tour at the weekend. Where is the nearest and cheapest place to park please? Don't know the area, so any tips will be really appreciated.

Hi there, don't panic! Thetford has abundant parking and the majority of it is completely FREE and all within walking distance of the museum. Unfortunately, I can't include email addresses or website addresses within this answer but if you would like to contact either the museum website or that of Leaping Hare, which provides Thetford's Great Information Centre, I will be happy to email you a car park map.
If you are coming down on the Saturday, don't forget the new Film exhibition too.
