Luskentyre beach is the most stunning beach I have ever visited, which is saying something, as I am in my seventieth year. When I first saw it my breath was literally taken away. It has beautiful sand and is never crowded. The sea is crystal clear and there are views across to Taransay.

Words do not do this beach justice! If it was 80 degrees and sunny, I would never know I was in Scotland in the Outer Hebrides. What an amazingly gorgeous beach. The sand is in its purest form and the water as blue as can be. The fact there were not many people there when we went made for such a dramatic sight. We walked and walked just admiring how clean and beautiful the beach is. We did a hardy soul take a dip in the water, he was a local of course. Very impressed we were. If you are there on a nice sunny warm day, I would highly recommend just chilling out for as much time as you can, something about a gorgeous beach hits just right.

The day we were at the beach was heavy rain and gale force winds. Our ferry was the only one to run that day. None of this took anything away from the vastness and purity of the beauty of this place. The sand went for miles. It was epic.

If not for the chill in the air one might be mistaken for being on Kauai with the occasional rain shower, breeze but the similarly stunning beaches are remarkably wonderful!

The most amazing beach and scenery, definitely worth a visit! Not a huge amount of parking so I would suggest getting there early to get a spot. We arrived around 1pm on a nice day and probably got the last spot!

Absolutely amazing beach with spectacular views. Even though it was drizzly & grey when we went, it still beautiful. It just makes us want to come back when the sun is out.

The beach and scenery are amazing BUT an article in the Stornaway Gazette, May 2024 is advising the sea has Ecoli and human excrement in it with a poor level ‘C’ rating. I didn’t swim in it

Where can I camp at Luskentyre ?Do I need to pay ? Is there a campsite nearby? Can anyone help as it all seems a bit vague . Two people with dog car and tent .

There are a couple of spots on the single track road to Luskentyre which have an honesty box - you'll see them.But it depends who gets there first!
There is a campsite about 5 mins or so drive away at Horgabost/Nisabost but check with Talla na Mara Community Centre re whether they are open.They weren't when we were there in July but that may have changed.Talla na Mara may also advise on other sites nearby.

Where are there serviced lots for a motor home and can you recommend a 5 day route with sites to cover Harris & Lewis.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I can not recommend any service lots as our holiday had a base where we travelled around each day! In 5 days however you will be able to cover much of Harris and Lewis! I hope you have an amazing trip!

I'm looking to visit Luskentyre Beach again but will be bringing a caravan this time. Are there any campsites with electric hook up nearby?

There have been several overnight campervan pitches built in fantastic locations, there are a couple on the Luskentyre road and some more overlooking Huishnish. Unfortunately I didn't notice electric hook ups but then again I wasn't looking but hope this helps.

Think a car is a must or bike ifyou are fit! saw many cyclists do the Hebridean way. not sure about buses but do a search on google for harris bus tours. did see a few bus tours at many points.😀

Where can you stay nearby....all I found was all the way up in Stornaway...and everything I read said to stay away from Stornway..its the least prettiest place on the Isles.

Yes its probably true that the town isn't the most charismatic on the island but only because the rest is so scenic and Stornoway is the main port.
