Although the showed items only relate to the Greek prehistoric times, Minoan times and Classical period, this museum in the former Venetian Arsenal is beautiful set up and clearly explained in English and Greek. The one thing which seemed a bit strange to us, was that the toilets were closed and, after asking, stayed closed. Strange when your museum is open.

When I arrived at the museum I was pleased to find that they had a stair lift. Someone came to operate it, put me in it in my wheelchair and I began to ascend. A quarter of the way up it stopped and despite the museum employee’s many attempts he could not get it to work. There were two metal safety bars to secure me in place. I had to slide down from my wheelchair seat, manoeuvre myself under the bar and then walk back down the staircase whilst my husband folded the chair and the museum worker carried it down the stairs for me. This was only possible as I can walk and have reasonable flexibility. If I had not been able to walk or duck under the rail then I think the fire brigade might have had to be called! This would have been very distressing to a less able person. Please service and test your chair lift regularly!

really enjoyed our visit here. our tour was about 1 hour long and saw most of the exhibits. Had dinner afterwards at a nearby restaurunt. Very nice.

Da magazzini dei veneziani a caserma ora Municipio e Museo archeologico. Ripidi scalini portano al Museo. Due sale ( al primo e al secondo piano). Utili e ben fatte le descrizioni sia storiche sia dei pezzi esposti.

Εύκολη πρόσβαση …. Πολύ καλό μουσείο .. είναι στην πλατεία Συντάγματος σε πολύ καλό κτήριο… ξεχωρίζει η πανοπλία κ οι μάσκες από τα εκθέματα

Θα πρέπει να το επισκεφθείτε οπωσδήποτε. Αφορά όλη τη σπουδαία ιστορία του Μυκηναϊκού πολιτισμου. Περιέχει αξιοθαύμαστα αρχαιολογίκα αντικείμενα όπως π.χ. χτένες, ξυράφια και υάλινα αγγεία, αρχαία Ιατρικά εργαλεία, πηνία κ.α. . Πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες οι πληροφορίες που αναγράφουν στα εκθέματα.

Small museum and half of the second floor was closed off with no explanation. Lots of pottery and bronze weapons from nearby burial sites. High point was bronze armour with boar tooth helmet (circa 1500 BCE) and hearth sites from 32,000-21,000 BCE (not much to actually look at though).
OK for a brief stop or for real history buffs, but ok to give it a miss

Very poor. Only 75% of the exhibition was open and it was 6 euros. No audio guide. If you stay more than half an hour i would be surprised and i am big history buff.

Le musée se situe en plein coeur de la ville de Nauplie. Fermé le mardi. Ouvert de 8h à 15h30.
Musée qui a le mérite d'être entièrement accessible aux personnes handicapées via des rampes. Il se compose de deux étages. Fait partie du pass combiné 6 sites pour 20 € sinon 6 € / personne.
Situé dans une ancienne bâtisse vénitienne du 18éme siècle sur une des places centrales de la ville. Le musée comporte quelques pièces remarquables dont une armure en bronze unique au monde, une amphore à double paroi permettant de refroidir les liquides qui s'y trouvent (via de l'eau fraîche). Très beaux objets mycéniens et très belles céramiques
Les informations sont soit en anglais soit en grec et suffisantes pour comprendre l'essentiel des pièces.
Le personnel est sympathique et un des guides nous a expliqué brièvement l'histoire de certains objets présents au premier étage.
Compter 1h environ pour le visiter. Belle petite collections d'objets trouvés dans les environs de Nauplie.

Bonjour, votre commentaire est très enrichissant. Est-ce des faits que vous avez pu lire ou entendre en français sur place? Y a t'il un moyen pour une unilingue francophone, d'en apprendre autant sur l'histoire des artéfacts une fois sur place? Des plaques explicatives en français, un guide audio..?

I'm going in September with 3 friends. One needs a knee replacement and has pain with stairs. I see they have an elevator.
Do you remember if that means she might be able to do it with only a few others stairs here and there? Is there some places to sit along the way?
