I stayed at site 433 for 2 nights. The site was level, there were sewer, water, and electricity hookups. The only issue I had was the 30 amp outlet didn’t work. Luckily I had a converted for the 50 amp to 30 amp connection but it could have been very unfortunate if I didn’t. There was no campground attendant on duty and it was around Labor Day weekend. Overall, the site was nicely maintained and they had a laundry facility onsite. Being close to the Charles Cullen bridge made it easy to eat at Big Chill Beach Club and walk to Coin Beach.

I prefer the state park beaches being a resident of Delaware. I get the season permit instead of paying every visit. The beaches are well kept, don't seem to have the riff-raff you run across at the public beaches, freer to enjoy the beach. Some, maybe all, state park beaches don't have life guards, so beware. Some have bath houses which is a plus, most have dune crossing mats that make it much nicer.

Beautiful sandy beach to walk along. It felt like it was our personal beach as it was so quiet off season

Spent a Saturday afternoon here and had a great time. It was very crowded, so if you want to spend time at the beach (which is quite narrow), come early. We barely had a place to park in the very large lot. The park was well-staffed, however, and there were employees helping you find a spot. We found it a very interesting place to walk, as you have the beach, the area where people fish, and that beautiful bridge which affords terrific views. Then there's an elevated bar for refreshments afterwards. Fabulous!

loved this beach area so much better than south of here. This is off season but the weather was very nice and not many visitors.

We ended up stopping here on our way from Ocean City to Rehobeth and absolutely loved the setting next to the bridge. We were planning to go to Bethany or Dewey beach, just to try something different from Ocean City, but this small, much quieter, beach venue caught our attention and we love it! Reminded me a lot of the shore line in San Francisco near the Golden Gate Bridge, which I've visited a few times.

I stop by here regularly on my bicycle rides along the coast. The park straddles both banks of the Indian River. There's plenty of parking and camping is allowed on the North shore of the park. I don't know the price for camping, but the day use fee is $5 in-state & $10 out-of state. The South shore has a great restaurant/bar and the North shore has a marina & bar. The state park also plenty of restroom and showers.
When riding on your bicycle, you can access the state park without paying and use the facilities. If you're camping at the park, Dewey Beach is approximately 5-miles north and Bethany Beach is approximately 5-miles south. To get between the North and South shores, you'll have to cross the bride that goes across the Indian River. There are both/separate bicycle and pedestrians lanes on both sides of the bridge.
There are also beautiful sandy beaches along eastern shoreline of the park on both the North and South Shores.

Great park for fishing, camping, and the beach. Only one real hiking trail in the whole park around Burton's Island Nature Preserve (1.3 mile loop, flat, easy, gravel/sand unpaved trail). Some restaurants there and plenty of parking.

We strolled the clean sandy beaches for hours. It was a Friday in July, so was very busy near the visitor center, but thinned out a few hundred yards south. There were lots of families, and it was quiet except for the murmur of beach goers and the crashing waves.

Parking lot style. No trees at all. It gets hot. The air conditioner works hard.

I have Verizon and reception is low in the park, I have used my Hot Spot at my camper site which in on the west side of Coastal Hwy and that works fine...have never tried it in the park.
has the flooding of campsites been remedied?

Sorry. There is no way for me to answer that question as conditions change daily. Since this is the off-season, its not the priority that it would be otherwise. I will do some checking & try to up-date you later today.

Of course you can and you can use the day pass for ANY shore point in Delaware on that day at no extra charge.
Where do I go to get a day out of state parking tag? I used the meters before and that was a pain

If you are in the resort towns, there is metered parking but the State Park has a payment stand at each entrance. You can buy an Annual Pass at most State of Delaware park entrances. I hope that helps.

I am interested in how the campground is? I saw your review about taking our pup to the beach and we also travel with our fur friend, and are looking for a beach campground that isn't a parking lot. Do you have any photos of the CG? I'm not worried about ammenities, after all that's what we have our rig for, but are there "seasonal" campers there? I hate pulling up to a cg to find it loaded with campers that look like they've been there since the 70's. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don't go there. It is what you describe that you do not want. It is a big parking lot near a major and noisy bridge. Lots of traffic. The campers do look like they have been there for years. There are several campgrounds that are more pleasant further north on route 1. They are in quieter locations, in wooded areas. Beaches do get crowded and Saturday and Sunday traffic will be quite heavy in beach season.

water temps in May will vary with the weather. Keeping tabs on water temps ahead of your visit is a good idea. This can be done online with any website that tracks current water temps.
