Located just to the south of South Beach, the Miami Art Deco District is composed of hundreds of different buildings with this particular architectural style. Lots of fascinating bits of architecture to admire (this includes Gianni Versace's house where he was tragically assassinated).

Wij hebben Miami Beach bezocht en ook het Art Deco Historic District. Wij vonden het nogal tegenvallen. Misschien speelde het slechte weer hierbij ook parten. De boulevard is nog wel netjes, maar de straten erachter zijn een beetje schimmig. Het was in ieder geval niet zo ons ding!

Un incontournable dans la ville. Ces hôtels offrent un cachet considérable au front de mer. C'est chic, cela semble authentique, c'est rétro, ce n'est pas bling bling, Bref c'est top! La nuit venue, ces hôtels s'illuminent et donnent une dimension supplémentaire au quartier.

Great area! We always felt safe walking around and everything was very clean! I would definitely recommend finding a hotel in this area when staying in Miami!

This is a must do in Miami. So many great examples of art deco architecture in a small area. Worth doing both day and night.

We walked through the District while participating in the annual Art Deco Festival. There is block after block of amazing hotels, bars and restaurants. All next to Lummus Park and the beaches.
Lots of people walking their dogs while strolling through here. The festival included exercise, music, antique cars and more.

There are none! You can park on the street paying at the meters, $ 4.00 x hour. If you are hosted at an hotel in the area you can choose valet Parking, $ 25 - 30 per day, or you can look for several public parking lots nearby.
Is there a free shuttle that runs through the Art Deco district? If so, where can I find more information about it?

Not on Ocean Drive where all the art-deco hotels are... There´s an old fashioned " trolley" that goes up and down on Washington Ave. - two blocks from Ocean Drive, plus the " quarter bus" that goes everywhere, called LOCAL South Beach...

Vous pouvez consulter les avis sur TripAdvisor pour l'hôtel Impala que nous n'avons pas tellement apprécié et pour l'hôtel Southseas près du Delano que nous avons beaucoup aimé rapport qualité prix. Les 2 films se trouvent sur Collins ave

Need advice on how to spend our short amount of time here!
Next week I will be vacationing in the Keys with my husband and our 14 year old son, who is currently using a wheelchair. We are flying into Fort Lauderdale on a Tuesday, renting a convertible, then spending the night in Miami before driving down to the Keys Wednesday. We will be in Miami from 3:30pm Tuesday until around 2:30 the next day.... We are most interested walking around the art deco area and Ocean Drive. We'd like to see it both during the day and also lit up at night. A wonderful dinner Tuesday night, and equally great breakfast or lunch Wednesday is a must, and of course, some people watching! I'm unsure if we should stay in Homestead and just visit the area or should we actually stay there? (looking at Collins Ave. hotels) Spending the extra money isn't really an issue. It's whether or not it will be too noisy and too much of a party atmosphere at night for our son...
Any advice would be sooooo appreciated- running out of time!

It will be Spring Break through the end of the month, so it will be noisy. I live here and I can tell you that the middle of the week is a good time for you, but you do not want to stay in Homestead, it is simply too far, and the traffic is insane coming up here from there. My recommendation would be to stay up the beach just a bit past Ocean on Collins around 17th street near Lincoln Road Mall. It is more family oriented and you will have only a short walk down to Ocean drive (couple blocks), and those hotels back up to the beach with beach access. Then you can enjoy it without being awake all night with the noise. Do your best to stay away from the street in the back of the hotel.

I would say the true Art Deco part of South Beach is actually several blocks north, starting at 5th St and running up Collins. It's true you'll be "just" a few blocks away, but those are quite long blocks, especially if it's a hot day or you're wearing flip flops! Uber cars are readily available. I recommend using them if you want to go more than 6-7 blocks in warm weather. (Just be aware that Uber can get expensive at dinner time when they're in high demand.)

Hi William,
It's approx 2.4 miles south of your hotel... However you can catch bus 103, 120 or 150 (all run every 5-15 minutes) and it takes approx 20 minutes to get to the Art Deco district.
