Parking on Lord street is not welcome

A lovely spot and great views but don't park on Lord Street, Chancery Lane. There is a lot of building work at present with HGV's and diggers a regular problem. Eight cars were recently written off when a low loader ran out of control on the narrow road. Also the residents struggle with limited parking and access to their houses so they can be unfriendly to selfish tourist hogging the limited parking when there is a public car park a few hundred yards away.

One of the best spots in Cheshire! Beautiful views and only a short walk up. Beautiful day or night. It’s is steep up the steps so take your time and wear good boots.

Amazing views

Pick a clear day. Park by the Bulls Head and make your way up to the best viewpoint over the Cheshire Plain and west Derbyshire.
If you have time tu4n right at the top and traverse a fabulous ridge walk of about a kilometre before dropping back down (to the right) to return along the road.

Stunning views

The view from the top is stunning. While walking to Waulkmill waterfall there is a Gritstone trail which is easy uphill walk. After walking for approximately 15 minutes there are stairs on the left. The stairs are bit rough and muddy till the top. Young children can walk up the stairs. While walking uphill it’s perfect views for pictures. Make sure you park the car before the duck pond, there is no parking after that. They are all private property. From the duck pond to white Nancy it is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour walk, but it’s worth it.

Extensive Views

Our hotel provided details of walks in the area; White Nancy was part of a 3 mile walk. The walk itself was interesting (some lovely properties on route) but there were beautiful views of the surrounding countryside from elevated sections of the walk. White Nancy itself wasn't particularly interesting, but formed part of the walk.

Hidden gem with great views

Was not aware of White Nancy before visiting the area. Straightforward walk up, not too strenuous and takes about 25 minutes from High Street. Fantastic views from the top and plenty of places to sit and take those views in.

Quite Short but Amazing Views

We went for a walk up to White Nancy over the weekend and were really impressed by how vast the views are over the valley! Definitely a good place for a quick Sunday walk if you don’t have heaps of time. All in all the walk itself took around an hour and a half including time to stop at the top and take in the views.

Following comments from another review, we parked on Chancery Lane and took the steps in the corner of Cow Lane. We walked up through the field of cows (I’m quite scared of cows usually but they were pretty calm and kept their distance) then took a right at the top to take us along the track.

We climbed the rocky path up to the top (left of the track) and found White Nancy herself. Gorgeous views even on a cloudy day so it must be even better in summer!

On the way down we took the stairs which was an easier descent than trying to climb down the rocky path - heads up though, it’s very slippery and muddy in Autumn/Winter so definitely take wellies or something with grip!

Nice walk all in all - the views are great and it doesn’t take up your whole day.

Exhilarating walk with great views!

White Nancy stands on the top of Kerridge Hill in the village of Bollington where we were staying. It is a white painted folly which was built originally as a summer house around 1815 and is now a grade II listed landmark. It no longer has a door. It was an enjoyable walk through the village and then the climb up lots of steps cut into the hill. It was a bit muddy and slippery in places but quite an exhilarating walk with a great view from the top. It was definitely worth the effort!

"The White Nancy"

Being mostly Covid aware, I decided that I couldn't go wrong in taking a hike with my faithful fox (terrier) Sharon up to the famous so called The White Nancy. Setting off from Macclesfield after a fantastic mutton and game pie, I trudged several miles by road and then through fields and bracken and such like only to be met by a very steep hill, up which there was no discernible man-made path (which I would expect in 2020 especially from one of Bollingtin's leading people attractions). Riddled with scratches and a bruise (from a fall down a muddy bank which could have ended even more horribly (with a nearby cow) had I not remembered my basic training and acted quickly) I finally reached the windswept The White Nancy. Much smaller than promised and not at all impressive (see photograph supplied), it didn't go unnoticed either that this looks nothing like a bell or salt shaker as promised by the vendor of my earlier pie. I sallied to a pub for succour and was met with gales of derisive laughter at my muddy rear end.
