The ladies there were very informative, they answered any question we had and was more that glad to share their information, they did not make us feel that we were bothering them. The quilts that were on display were amazing to say the least. I wish there had been a bit more to see, it only took about an hour to stroll thru. Over all it was worth the stop. (1$ off card at our hotel, and also welcome center.)

Well Worth a Visit!

I had been wanting to visit this museum as I am most interested in learning how to quilt and I enjoy looking at quilts. This museum did not disappoint, particularly since it has a special Kaffe Fassett quilt exhibit in honor of his 85 birthday that runs until July 8, 2023. There were also several other interesting special exhibits as wells as remarkable pieces from the museum's permanent exhibit that it rotates every three or four months.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the exhibits and offers some wonderful information. The exhibits are outstanding. Seeing the stitching and intricacies up close is very worth it. We will definitely return.

Amazing Quilted Pieces

First off, I will admit I am not a quilter. However, the quilts on display during our visit were amazing pieces of work! They had a large room full of school kid competition pieces and the other large area housed the museum pieces. These quilts were real works of art. This museum is smaller than I expected and we were done in about a half hour. There is a gift shop here, too. Enjoyable stop but I do wish there had been more to see for the price.

Fascinating
Even if you aren’t a quilter, this museum is a must see. They have several permanent pieces, but also have rotating displays. The craftsmanship is absolutely amazing! The variety includes miniature quilts to full sized quilts, quilted clothing and “sculptures”. Beyond traditional quilts and quilting techniques, they have several quilts which could almost be described as paintings done with fabric. The contributors have unbelievable talent!

Closed for renovations

Drove for 3.5 hours and had prepaid reservations only to find it closed for renovations. Should have been mentioned on the website and should not be selling tickets that I now have to figure out how to refund.

Indoctrination Labeled as "Art"

Our initial trips to the museum went well. We were able to view many many beautiful quilts and then on subsequent trips things just kind of went left. I'll not spend any more money at that "museum for the politically correct" especially when the employees and curator tell me it is "just art". Political statements in ANY form are not art. If you want to promote scams like BLM, or support the rewriting of history that is their choice but my choice, NEVER again will we visit what was once a favorite place to visit EVER!

I assume that you were upset by one of the two exhibitions featuring the work of nationally acclaimed black quilters that the museum hosted this winter. I would recommend seeking reading materials about the rich history of black quilting in America and the art form's cultural impact and influences. The socio-political power of black quilts and quilters has always been evident, and it is one reason why their influence has been so pronounced in American culture. NQM was honored to host these exhibitions.

The ladies had this as a must see. Lots of talent evident with these works of art. If you have ladies in your group, most will want to see this museum.

There are so many truly unique quilts, designs, and gift shop items. The miniature quilts and the Very Old quilts were just amazing!
