My mom and I loved shopping in person at Hancocks of Paducah. They had thousands of bolts of fabric to select from. I would say there were 300-400 bolts of just grunge fabric. I had been looking for the perfect batik fabrics for a project for awhile and sure enough, found it at Hancocks. Many other reviews mentioned the staff pulling fabric for online orders were not helpful, but we did not experience this. The staff was helpful and friendly!

Huge. Very helpful staff. Research the fabric designers and manufacturers that you like before you go as the fabrics are sorted by manufacturers. Small selection of thread and fusibles.

I refer my clients to this store for online selection for their fabric as I make made to order items. I have never liked the shipping costs, they are high and lately it is taking more than two weeks to get your online order. I am now waiting on one that I ordered 21 days ago. I have contacted them that I will have to find another source for my customers as this is not ok. I checked my order status on their website this morning and no updates on tracking still. I noticed they removed their "contact us" on the website. I'm assuming they are getting a lot of complaints. If they want to use the excuse of delayed deliveries because of local sales they need to consider trying to hire enough people to staff. It is frustrating because my city has limited fabric stores and online shopping has become a necessity but can't pinpoint one store to rely on a good inventory and customer service. Do better your customers are your bread and butter

The store has a wonderful collection of fabrics but the layout is difficult to navigate. It is NOT shopper friendly. I also felt Ike I was competing with employees who were trying to fill online orders. A couple of times the fabric I wanted was in their cart. Also those same online orders were taking up many of the cutting tables. If you are coming for a bargain you won’t find one here. The prices were the same as other quilting shops. It would have been nice if someone would greet you and maybe explain the store a little; especially if it’s your first time. Or say if you need help we will be glad to help. Didn’t get either of those.

This store is revered by quilters everywhere, but my wife and I, who were in the fabric business for many years, were not impressed. The store has a great selection of quilting fabrics, but the merchandise is arranged by vendor and collection, which makes it easy for the staff to locate specific fabrics to fill online orders (which I suspect is the bulk of their business). For example, it would be difficult to see all of their Christmas fabric, as it's not merchandised all together in one place.
So, in order not to miss anything, we had walk every aisle. In one aisle, we encountered an employee (who appeared to be filling an order) and another woman wearing a Hancock's T-shirt. They were gossiping and trash-talking about another employee, which is something that professional businesses do not permit on the sales floor.
We were disappointed by the entire operation.

This shop may be great for in person sales, but the online experience leaves much to be desired. And, the company doesn't put the customer first, they put their top dollar first and pretend they care about customers.
My experience is as follows. And I will try to do a short version.
I purchased several fabrics, one of which was 9 yards of, what I thought to be, white fabric with a very subtle pattern. The photo of the fabric shows exactly that. When I got the fabric, it turns out it was a (very poor quality) plain white. I called them about it and was told that plain white was what I had ordered. Per their return policy, I was welcome to return it at my shipping expense. I felt that this was unfair since their photo depicted an entirely different fabric than what I got. However they said that it was my fault for zooming in (which I did not do) and that their title description was what the fabric was and that I should have gone off of that. How was I to know that the image they were projecting wasn't what the title depicted? I am not a fabric savant and to me, it DID depict the photo! Yes, the title said solid, but there are several listings that also say solid but show a subtle pattern. And, I'm the customer. It's the sellers responsibility to make sure they're presenting their product correctly in both the title AND the image. I was told that they would give me a discount, but that if I wanted to return it I had to pay shipping. I offered to split shipping, (which would have been the discount amount anyways.) Again, the answer was no.
I sent an email the Hancocks President, Justin Hancock. He was entirely unsympathetic, again putting the blame and responsibility on me, the customer. He said he didn't see the pattern, so I sent photos. I was told that it was not a pattern, but distortion from the camera. How am I supposed to know that!?!? Put a disclaimer ON the photo then saying that there may be distortion!!
I filed a complaint with BBB and somehow they said they had reached out to me and that I didn't respond so the case was dropped. I decided that for $17 (or $8.50 since I said I'd pay half) it just wasn't worth it anymore and just let it go.
The final straw with this company though was when I was going through my fabrics when I was ready for the project I had ordered all the fabric for, and found one was missing. I wasn't sure if I had just not ordered it or if they had forgotten to put it in, so I went to log into my account only to find that they had deleted my entire account. No order history, nothing. That is so extremely petty of them. They're supposed to be a professional company not a vindictive bully!
I do NOT recommend this company in ANY capacity for the simple fact that there is a lack of morals and values and absolutely no customer service. This was something that I felt was totally their fault for misrepresenting the fabric, however I had been willing to split the cost of the shipping. But my patronage wasn't worth $8.50 to them. Horrid. IF you do want to shop from them, I would recommend you do it in person.

We had to make a return visit, and introduce a quilt-making family member to the mother ship of fabric stores.
Shopping on-line may be easier, but nothing comes close to the onslaught one can encounter during Paducah Quilt Week. Definitely something every fabric lover should experience, at least once.
The staff are friendly, efficient andaccommodating.
The selection of fabric is astounding; and the array of kits, bundles, precuts, etc amazing. (For the true diehard, this may be a place to have one's ashes spread).
One of the cutters, (sorry we didn't get her name--she may normally work in accounting), gave us a wonderful history of the operation and its workings. She was quite generous with her time and knowledge.
This is a marvelous facility to visit, regardless of one's involvement with the fabric arts.

Loved Hancock of Paducah today. Diane waited on us and was so friendly and helpful. She was so kind to my hubby! She helped up know the Best deal. Thank you Diane!!!! You asked us to come back and we will!

I have purchased from this company in the past and been mostly happy although sometimes they say something will be sent later but then it just drops off the system and I don't get it at all which is annoying. Only a couple of times.
However, I have been trying to purchase from them again online, their prices are reasonable but the shipping charge that is coming up is mind blowing. From other companies I can get 9 to 11 yds of fabric in an international envelope and up to about 31yds in a medium box. They want to charge $335 to ship $327 worth of fabric including mostly yardage and a fat quarter pack and 3 charm packs to Australia. I have emailed them 6 times, and via messenger and finally got a respons which is obviously just automatic.
They say they are using Fed Ex where as most US quilt shops use USPS. I can't imagine they will have any overseas customers left at these prices.

Wow this place is awesome...we were travelling in the States from Australia and a friend took us to Look.....it had everything I needed in fabric and is very well organised. The staff were most helpful. I will be visiting again when next we travel to the States

A cotton quilt fabric that coordinates with your t-shirt quilt top. I’ve made several and this is what i use, just as if i were backing a regular quilt.
