This place is just the worst. It was so so poorly maintained and filthy. The rooms walls were disgusting and the ceiling had black mold. The area around the balcony door was damaged and filled with mold. The balcony didn’t look safe enough to even step foot on. The furniture was clearly obtained from other old hotels. I didnt even want to sit on the furniture, much less sleep there! It was awful. We actually ended up going and buying new bedding because it was so bad. The pillows on the beds were just throw pillows. I did not want to spend one minute there. By far the worst place I’ve ever stayed.

Check in was fine but we noticed the building exterior is in desperate need of a remodel. We stayed here many years ago but very little has been done to the building in the last 16 years. Dingy plastic chairs on decks and beat up picnic benches by the lake. We chose this place again because it is pet friendly. I booked here because there is a lot of property and grass. There is goose crap everywhere! On the grass, on the beach and impossible not to step in. The hotel clearly does make any effort to clean it up. Our room was clean but furnishings are outdated. Beds were lumpy and mattresses were not comfortable. Lobby may be the only thing remodeled. Desk clerks were polite. I could have let my dog crap everywhere between the goose poop but I was nice enough to pick it up!

If it wasn't for the friendly staff and comfy beds it would be a 2.
I had gone here years ago for February Vacation and was impressed with the activities for the kids, the pool and the restuarant. I figured with Covid it might not be as exciting but expected more than what we g
I drove out here hoping to sit by the indoor pool and let the kids play in the pool to enjoy vacation a bit. I knew the hot tub was closed, bummer but I get it.
WELL the while pool area was freezing! I believe I saw that it was 63. Parents were fully clothed sitting uncomfortably on the side while their kids tried to enjoy the water but came out shivering.
I inquired if they could raise the temp, even if it wouldn't be warmer until later, knowing that kids would want to go in at night. Nope still freezing.
Both restaurants were closed, which I wasn't aware of (don't recall reading it on the website).
If I didn't have my dog I would have sought other accommodations.

I feel awful leaving this review because this hotel has so much potential and definitely was so much nicer in its day. The grounds are beautiful on the lake, but areas need so much upkeep. It smelled of dead animal around the bushes and the mini golf course looked like a haunted village. THE ROOMS!!! Disgusting! The carpet and walls were a nicotine brown color and the beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. The sheets and blankets had yellow and brown stains on them. SO GROSS. All fo the furniture was vintage, i would say 1970s. And the bathtub had soap scum on it. Such a disappointment. We ended up leaving because I couldn't bear to sleep there.
I am not sure what was going on with the pool, yellow tape everywhere and floors ripped up, but you could still swim. However, the water had a cloudy, yellow color to the water. NO THANKS.
The front desk host was very nice :) The entire lobby reeked of smoke and even though we were given a non--smoking room, the room was clearly smoked in.
This could be a great resort but they have to pump soooo much money and time into it.

I enjoyed my stay here. Yes, the rooms are a bit worn, and the venue is outdated, but you can't beat the size of the rooms, full living area with pull out couch, nor can you beat the grounds. Fascinating place to wander around, with a unique and fanciful miniature golf course, a lake beach and a restaurant on the lake. There is an indoor swimming pool, but it is hokey and small. You won't be swimming any laps, and if the hotel was ever full, I can imagine the pool would be un-useable due to crowding. The lake beach too, is mostly for kids,since, in all these places they have a small area of the lake roped off..but at least you could do some real swimming within its bounds.
For the price, I actually think this hotel is a better bet than the newer ones nearby. More room in ever way, and the interest of wandering the grounds and the maze that is the hotel. I would return. Breakfast is served in a small restaurant within the hotel, and is not included.
As for room choice, the hotel is sprawling. All rooms have balconies, and there are peaceful areas to overlook. I do recommend that you avoid any rooms whose balcony overlooks the indoor pool area. Could be dark and noisy. However, if it's off season, and you have children, it may work for you.

We chose to stay here because of the close proximity to Brimfield Antique flea market. That and the fact that the staff was very friendly was the only positive. The beds,sheets, and towels need to be tossed. The rooms are long past need of an update. I would not recommend staying here.

I attended a car gathering hosted by the hotel and stayed for 4 nights.The hotel has very dated infrastructure but the old country style architecture makes you think at how wonderful it must have been in its hayday. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and service for breakfast and our conference dinners was excellent. The rooms lacked a refrigerator and a microwave.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days. We attended a wedding at old Sturbridge village which was very close. We enjoyed the grounds and the lake on our downtime. We also enjoyed our deck. We didn’t know there was going to be a Jaguar car show there so that was even another plus. Front desk employees were extremely courteous. Bed was comfortable. Thank you

I hate leaving bad reviews but if it’s awful, I’m sorry.. it’s awful. That is not my fault. This place was so bad we didn’t even stay the night. We left for dinner and never returned. There was some time of big on the bed. The room get and smelt musty. Everything was outdated. The bathroom was just.. The hot tub... I wouldn’t even put my feet in. There were kids playing in the hot tub picking at their scabs and checking their pits. I’m telling you, this place needs to be 20.00$ a night.. I’m sorry. Then, it would be worth it I guess. Never again.

Although it is a bit outdated, and there arent any microwaves or refrigerators in the room, it's good for the price. Its clean, fun for the kids, and the food is good, decent priced food and GREAT SERVICE. Both times we came, we have recieved OUTSTANDING service from Angela. She always asked if we were good, how things were. There was nothing we had to ask for! Shes great.
