The views from our campsite, which was right on the beach, was amazing. Great viewing of the Mackinaw Bridge. Our particular campsite was pretty much separate from other campers, with a line of trees blocking us. Being on the end helped tremendously. We were in our own little oasis.
There were other campsites where the campers were much closer together or tucked up under a dark canopy of trees. I could see that being nice in the warmer months, but during the month of September, we appreciate the bright sunshine that warmed our tent.
Our campsite was in the eastern side, and I liked that area. I'm sure the west side has their own special qualities. Enjoyed the walking trail and the steps up to the viewing of the Mackinaw Bridge. Take a quarter along to view into the telescope and actually see the make of the vehicle traveling the bridge, or view into Mackinaw City.
We already have plans on returning. It was an enjoyable stay and everyone we came into contact with was extremely pleasant.

This is our second stay at this campground. First time we stayed on the west side, this time the east. Definitely recommend the west side. Most campsites on the east are extremely unlevel. Our bottom step was at my knees and the camper was still not level. We forgot our extra step at home so we did not want to make it any higher. A camper across from us had their step so high they were struggling getting in and out. Travel trailer next to us dragged their jacks pulling out of the site, such a step incline from the site to the road. Rules are not enforced, mainly bikes around the bathhouse. You can ride them right in front of park staff and they will not say a word. Rude people that get upset with you if you do not let them cross your campsite to reach their destination. Showers were not cleaned the entire we were we there, same piles on the floor all week. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. The positives of this campground are being right on Lake Huron and the amazing views of the bridge. Turning left out onto the main road could be challenging during busy travel season.

We tent camped here and its a great location but the campsites are super close together and people (generally families) are pretty loud well past quiet hours compared to every other state park I've camped at.
Views from the beach were great. Park is super close to town which worked for us.
Check in staff was super friendly and helpful.

I agree with another recent reviewer that this park needs more signage, especially for those just interested in a bridge photo op. They weren't very helpful at the entrance station, but we found the raised overlook and took some pictures there before descending the staircase, where the confusion began. We found our way to the campsites, and then, through a clearing in the trees at the lakeshore we saw the view of the bridge we were looking for. We had a little break there before wandering through the campsite area and back to the parking lot. The bridge view is fantastic, and the campsites looked very nice, along with the common buildings.

Nice small park. Views of Mackinac Bridge are great but signage makes forward little exploration to find both. Map of 1.5 mike walk is a bit confusing. View if bridge straight on is worth the search

I just went here for some good pics of the Mighty Mac with the woods in the foreground. I wish I would have known about the spot that is lined up head on with the bridge.
They have a lower and upper campground. Driving through the sites seemed sort of close. Pretty busy when I was there the second Sunday in June.

A great campground with very clean restrooms and showers. It was a short walk to the beach to see the bridge. The campground was very quiet as well .

Took the family up in an RV, got a great campsite just a short distance from an overlook of the Mackinac Bridge. A beautiful view at night! Great campground facility, easy in, easy out! Hope to go back someday!

We came on a weekend to camp that didn't require a recreation passport, so we only had to pay for our reservation online. Most of the sites had photos and limited descriptions, so we picked a spot that met the description (shady, near the bathroom) and it was a lovely couple of nights. There was someone who sold small cords of wood near the entrance (limited hours, evenings) and those ended up being a reasonable size and quantity for a few nights of burning. We went off site locally to buy two cords of wood but they were too large to burn at first, so the park firewood was better. There was a little hiking trail to get down to the lower portion of the park, right on the Lake. You could see the bridge from the bottom of the park. Overall, lovely place and the check-in process was very easy. They had brochures and coupons in the ranger station which was helpful.

What is prices of camp ground
It’s way overpriced for what you get. It has a nice view of the Mackinac Bridge - but that’s it. They cram camper trailers and tents in like sardines; this IS NOT CAMPING! 10 or 12 feet between campsites is too close. This is mass production camping; you’d have more space in Central Park in anew York City.

Yes. However, it is best to secure a reservation as opposed to just showing up as they do get busy at times. It is a nice enough campground that is close to alot of stores, restaurants, shopping, a casino ect..ect...

Yes there are modern shower houses inside the campgrounds.
Park is close to alot of actvities too!

Yes and yes! All Michigan state parks that we have camped in allow Rv's of this ...and even larger. Pets are allowed but MUST be contained in some fashion and cannot roam freely. Also, if your pet exhibits agressive behaviors, excessive barking, howling, or noise making behaviors like scrathing or jumping onto campers (yours or your neighbors) you could be asked to leave.
