Good campground for my visit to Dearborn and Detroit

Can't really comment on the opportunities for recreation, I chose this campground because of the proximity to the things I wanted to do in the Detroit area, as well as the many options close by for eating, shopping etc.
Nice campground, was 3/4 full at mid-week, seemed to be a lot of local folks. Quite and peaceful, easy check in, and good dry firewood!!

Spent two days there. Sites are advertised as uneven which isn't too big of a concern for vehicles with auto leveling. campground fairly quiet during evening hours. more kids than I expected but most were under control. would camp there again

冬場は湖が完全に凍っていてとても寒いのですが、雄大な雰囲気を楽しめます。春になると氷がとけて野生動物がちらほら顔を出し、なんともいえない平和な雰囲気です。

This area is great for a short hike. There are trails that don't get a lot of foot traffic so you could be back there without seeing anyone for sometime. Very peaceful.

Beautiful State Park

Proud Lake is a fantastic state park, with lots of options...hiking, camping, canoeing, and much, much more. In particular, the group-use camp site is fantastic....some covering trees, right along the river, and with a couple of good fire pits. All in all, Proud Lake is a great place to go for all sorts of outdoor recreation!

Very Family Friendly Campground

We recently camped for 5 days during one of the Harvest Weekend Trick or Treat times. We had a great time. We have done Halloween camping at 5 other state parks and Proud Lake was the best in our opinion. The sites were not over decorated like other parts so you don't have to spend a fortune to keep up with the other campers and there were nice activities planed for everyone. It was a rainy weekend but the campground rangers and staff rose to the challenge and adjusted times so the kids could trick or treat a little earlier and all of the festivities went on without the downpours. The Friends of Proud Lake did a great job and the rangers kept noise to a minimum and the campground was very quiet during the designated hours. Our group that occupied 10 sites have decided that this is our new location for our annual Halloween camping get together.

30th Birthday Camping Trip!

Overall, a great campground. **Keep in mind I'm reviewing the campground, not the Rec Area!

Check in was nice and easy, no problem with visitors coming and going. Maybe it was early in the season, but there weren't too many other campers nearby. I was a bit concerned about the noise we would make and being asked to leave, but I can tell you, we were loud and no one said a word (probably helped that we made friends with the one neighbor we had). My only complaints would be the huge power towers that were right next to/over us - you could hear the electricity buzzing from them. I also found a tick on one of my chairs when I was packing up, so beware to spray yourselves and pets! This is part of being in nature, but you can never be too careful!

Great walking paths

The path through the park are well marked and maintained. Many many miles of paths with clear signs along the way. There is the lake loop and the river walk. If you cross the dam you can walk to the other side of the lake. One path takes you to group camping and another to the proud lake campground.

My Family Camp's at Proud Lake two to three times a year for the last 35+ years. We get four camp site each time. And have a great time with the multiple generation families that come together each year. We love that there is a place to swim, play on our boats and kayaks and lots of places to go fishing. The new bathrooms and showers are wonderful also.

Late fall visit

The trails near the headquarters lead to the Huron River dam area. The trails were slushy. But I am so happy that there are two port-a-pottys in this area, After walking for a while, they may be necessary. The local kids visit the area. I saw no wildlife.
