THIS IS OUR GO TO WINERY IN ROCHESTER! If you haven't been out to see this amazing winery, you are missing out! Dustin has awesome wines and ciders! This week chef Sofia out did herself with the basil lemon penne! Remember to book in advance for food so they know how much is make. Oven brick pizza on Fridays starts soon! It is always our favorite o. FRIDAYS! Come enjoy the beautiful grounds and amazing wine in this quiet venue. It is just a short drive outside of Rochester.

We made the trek to the Salem Glen Winery in late snowy November of 2019. No one else was there. It's an absolutely lovely place. The tasting building is just beautiful. Since we are from California, we assumed we would be sidling up to the bar for our tasting, but no, we were sat at a cloth covered table complete with holiday decos! Our young wine maven was adorable and very informative and enthusiastic about the wines. Since these grapes have to be resistent to cold weather, they are quite different from California grapes. We tasted 8 different wines and for my taste, only one was worthwhile. But, we had a delightful time, tasting, looking out the large windows at the snow covered vineyard and exploring the buildings on the property. This would be a terrific place for a wedding or other special occasion event.

Friendly staff, beautiful wine selection, buildings, and facility. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, playing corn hole, and bocce ball.

We spent part of an afternoon here taking the wine tour. It's not 0.5km, as advertised. It's more like 3/4 of a mile. The place was busy, and both parking lots were full. The "wine tour" is $14/person, and while trekking the vineyard, you get to taste several wines. It's a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon. There's seating outdoors to chill out, and enjoy your wine, either on a deck, or under a nice gazebo.

We had a nice mix of 8-9 wines that we tried, ranging from dry to dessert sweet. Found a couple that were really nice. I'm typically not a Rose' person and almost asked to skip that sample and it wound up being one of my favorites. Didn't taste lie a typical Rose' at all. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere!

The winery and scenery were so beautiful, and the building smelled like fresh baked bread. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I enjoyed a couple of glasses and wandered outside the building. There is a covered patio outside that is so nice to sit, sip, and relax. A party of some sort (bridal shower maybe?) Came in, but the staff didn't skip a beat and our experience was not at all impacted. Beautiful place, well worth visiting. We like to visit wineries, and this one was far from disappointing!

This little vineyard and winery is set out in the country on a farmstead. It's homey and friendly, and the wines are very nice. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and limited food for nibbling (cheese plates and artisan pizzas on Fridays and special events). If you're in Rochester, it's a great afternoon or evening mini-getaway. And be sure to bring home a bottle of wine! You can sample a few or purchase a full tasting, and the staff are very knoweldgeable and fun.

We have been lucky enough to enjoy wines all over the world, spent 26 years in California developing our abilities, have a custom wine cellar at home, and didn't really expect much from a Minnesota winery. We were wrong! Salem Glen is in a very picturesque setting with beautiful views. The founder developed cold-hardy grapes (with some help from the Univ. of MN) and his son has now been the winemaker for 13 years. You likely won't recognize any of the grape varieties, but the fruits (pun intended) of their efforts have resulted in some very interesting and unique wines. Some are dry - another surprise - and some are sweeter, but we didn't taste anything that wasn't reasonably tasty in our selection of 8 wines for $8. We do prefer dry wines, so we selected mostly the drier offerings - all priced in the $14-18 range. Our favorite white was the Cygus and our favorite red was the Sabrevois. We also tasted their two fortified wines: the Fireside Red is a mild red with lots of cherry that would be a great dessert wine to sip in front of the fireplace; Dark Skies is very unique in that it is made from chokeberries and the fruity nose yields to a distinct chocolate note in the taste. Everything they make is done in stainless steel tanks, although some of the wines have oak chips added. I heartily recommend a visit to Salem Glen to sample their offerings and I expect you will take at least one bottle of unique wine home to enjoy.

I visited this charming winery for the first time after seeing an event posting on facebook for yoga and wine. It was fabulous! They have beautiful grounds with outdoor deck seating and a small area indoors. All the wines I tasted were great and very friendly staff.
