Beautiful Adventure 45 minutes Away from The Strip!
thg 6 năm 2021 • Cặp đôi
It's a must go,see, and explore. This was out second time and it didn't disappoint. The distance back and forth is relatively short. But the route is very unique and for an average tourist, not an avid hiker, I consider it challenging. You have to have good shoes as ankle and side wall support is very important to ensure proper balance and control.

Anyway, be prepared to crawl on fours a few times ascending or descending as the height changes require you to do so. A very few can leap or jump! At the end of the trail you are rewarded with spectacular views of the Vegas Valley, the City-Strip, and the nearby Red Rock mountains. I love the trail. Round trip is ~2 hours.

Beautiful View!
thg 1 năm 2020
I personally think this is a hard trail. I went here during the Winter and there was still ice on the rocks so it wasn't hard to slip and fall. Thankfully, no one in my party fell. It took two hours to make it to the end of the trail where you can see the Vegas strip in the distance and one hour to make it back. I recommend to bring some water with you, maybe even snacks if you are prone to hunger. I wore sneakers on this trail and that worked fine.

Great hike in Red Rock Canyon
thg 1 năm 2020
Calico Tanks Trail is located in Red Rock Canyon. It is about 2.5 miles long with 420 feet of elevation gain. Most of the trail is easy, but it does have several moderate scrambles up sandstone slopes. The trail basically winds through a canyon colored in both yellow and red sandstone and ends at a sandstone-cradled tank. A great hike that showcases the beauty of Red Rock.

Great Trail

This trail wasn’t too difficult and lots of see! Some were exploring through rock climbing however, most were just hiking. So interesting to see all the variation of colors in the canyon and you seriously can not take a back pic anywhere!

Absolut lohnenswert!

Must like rock scrambling
thg 8 năm 2019 • Cặp đôi
Did this wife my wife as we both like hiking and getting back to nature. Being from Florida, I also wanted to see what these “tanks” actually look like. Read about them in a bunch of western novels, so it was time to see for myself.
The views were fantastic and made the hike worthwhile for me. Not so much for my wife who is uncomfortable with heights and rock climbing. There is a LOT of rock climbing! In many places there is not a real trail, it’s more like following water flows ( think dry river beds) up a canyon to the top.
We’re both retirement age (55 plus) and it was very strenuous for us at times. We took frequent breaks and got through it. There are spots we found where we could rest. BRING LOTS OF WATER, especially during the summer months. We had a nice breeze most of our trip which was nice.
It took us 3 hours instead of the advertised 2 hours.

Excellent trail with such beauty

We arrived in Vegas from the UK and wanted to do something a little different. This trail was excellent.
A $25 entry fee into the national park was acceptable and the pure beauty is amazing.
We had a little stop off in the visitor centre and then hit the trail.

Some parts were a little trickier but nothing too major and we all managed it safely to the top and were rewarded with amazing views.

I would definitely recommend this and dont forgot a quick pit stop at the sign as you enter the national park

pretty views of the city!

This trail has good elevation, all well worth in the end where you will be able to see fine views of the city. It was pretty quiet but windy. We found a nice spot to sit and relax and enjoy the views.

Fun hike
thg 5 năm 2019 • Bạn bè
We did this hike in May, it was a nice trail following a river bed around the red rock. And then comes the fun part, rock scrambling! There were some natural stairs in the rocks, other parts you had to make your own way up. There wasn’t a trail per say once you got to the rocks, but it was pretty easy to follow the right direction. Once you get to the natural pond, come back a little ways and keep right! You’ll go up and end up climbing a flat rock to the look out over Las Vegas!

This was a fun hike and we kind of lost the trail on the way back, but you’ll find your way. Once you get down from the rocks, you’ll find the river bed again. We followed that until we saw others starting the hike and the trail marker.

It ended up raining and hailing for most of the hike so it Made the rocks a little slippery, but it was still fun and worth it for the views and rock scrambling!
