Worth a trip to Garrison Landing to enjoy the incredible world class exhibitions of artists that are local and international. Weekend cabin fever workshops for the winter and terrific pottery, drawing and print studios. Amazing in every way.

The Garrison Art Center is a see and be seen attraction. They have nice art classes for kids, and annual shows / fund raisers.... A great place to meet your neighbors, look elsewhere for serious art.

Wonderful art, friendly people and spectacular views of the Hudson River. There is a park behind the art center where you can sit and watch the boats sail down the river. The Art Center always has interesting exhibitions.

I live about 1/2 hour north of the Garrison Art Center. I first heard of it during an internet search looking for art classes for my son. We signed him up for a class with Summer Pierre, who is a very nice instructor and talented artist.
The staff is friendly. The art is, well, its art you know. It's up to interpretation. As our society is obsessed with nudity and sexuality, be forewarned that you might encounter a print, painting or sculpture depicting both or either during your visit.
The grounds are a nice to walk providing a nice view of the riverfront. After speaking with a lovely older gentleman who lives next to the center, I came to find out that the Garrison Art Center is very much supported by the community and vice versa.

Well worth the drive over. They had a great exhibit going and the area next to the water was well kept.

Because we live nearby, but Garrison Art Center is worth the trip, especially if you combine it with a visit to the Antipodean Book Store, maybe Philipstown Depot Theater or a hike to Arden Point. There are lots of dining options in Cold Spring or Fishkill to the north and Peekskill to the south

We live in the area and love Garrison Arts Center for its local programming, special events and especially for its camp, where our children will be attending for their third year. Only here could you find such community events as steam roller printing. For visitors to the area, keep on the mailing list for events, sales and craft fairs down by the scenic riverfront.

The Garrison Art Center, on the historic Garrison landing, is open from Tues-Sun 10-5. It has two galleries which feature shows from locally and nationally known artists in all media. It also has an annual student show, and members shows, as well as an excellent annual Holiday Sale which features all the best potters of the region.
I visit the Art center weekly, and never tire of it. The old world charm doesn't fade. The building it occupies, as well as neighboring ones, were all restored and featured as the City of Yonkers in "Hello Dolly". Visit the galleries, then walk down to the river and look up the road behind the Art Center and you are looking at the hardware store from the movie. I am including in this review photos I took this past year.
Then enjoy the ambiance of the small Landing park. There is no food available on the landing at the time of this writing, although a restaurant is planned. Until then, plan to bring a picnic. Looking north there is a good view of West Point.
If you come up from the city, you can combine a visit here with a stop at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in Peekskill, and then continue on to Cold Spring, or Beacon.
