Visiting the Secret Theatre made me feel like complete NYC insider! Getting there was easy, quick, comfortable and safe, but had an edgy, urban vibe. A quick 7 train ride from Grand Central Station, a 4 minute walk under the elevated tracks and we were there. The Secret is tucked away behind a tall, chain link fence and through what feels like a small loading dock. We saw an outstanding production of Macbeth in the intimate setting of a black box theater. We had refreshments during intermission, and found that the lobby area is pretty tight and can't accommodate many people, so most stayed in the theatre.

Walking back to the train we stopped at a little divey pub with a good kitchen that had a terrific beer selection for my husband, and poured me a lovely Sauvignon Blanc. It was such a great night!

The Secret theatre is also affordable. For little more than it costs to go to the movies we enjoyed a night of great professional theater, and a real New York experience. This is a secret worth sharing.

New talent has an outlet here- see a comedy show, a reimagining of a Shakespeare play, or some faithfully done Arthur Miller; attend a One Act Play Festival; you can satisfy that theatre itch without scratching in the city! Definitely worth a trip. Go!

Another nice evening show

The venue is a nice small intimate theater. Get there early so you can get Center seats instead of the left or right side which don't give you such a great view. The place is clean. There's a bar in the front. With drinks and snacks.

A real gem

I simply adore tiny venues. We were in the front row and several times during the show I had to pull my feet back to avoid the actors' feet. We were right in the middle of the action! We were there to see our friend Timothy Fisher in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The show was such fun and afterwards, there was a cookout with cast and audience. Bonus: There are three restaurants on the same block for after show eats. :-)

Went recently to a performance. The theater is small, but adequate for the number of patrons. The actors try hard and are good. An inexpensive way to spend an enjoyable evening near home.

Great theater! Great price

I'm always happy with the professionalism and talent here. The theater is a little rustic, but there's not a bad seat in the place. Very cozy and comfortable. More people should discover this place.

Tiny theater, big shows

It's a cute theater with minimum seating, but it has a lot of local talent and up and coming artists performing their craft. It's not the most elegant place, but its cute enough.

The Secret Theater is a black box theater with limited seating. The venue has a full bar and is very clean.
Terrific place to see new works by emerging artists.
We had no problem finding street parking.

Great location in queens. Cheap tickets but great talent. Family owned and a great experience. Can't wait to go back!

Caught the Saturday night musical improv here and it was surprisingly good. Several groups of really talented young people worked very hard to put on a great show. Small intimate, informal space with a friendly vibe. There is also a bar with refreshments. Tickets are only $7, $5 if you buy a block of 4. A fun Saturday night activity.
