Very much so! It’s little more than half an hour by Metro North train from Grand Central Terminal in NYC up to Philipse Manor (best stop for Sleepy Hollow).

This is quite a ways from Manhattan. You’d really need a car. Train & Uber would be a convoluted effort. That said, if you’re doing a Halloween jaunt, Philipsburg is very close to Sleepy Hollow of Washington Irving & headless horseman fame. And don’t miss Blaze, a multi acre Halloween garden. You’ll need tickets for that and they book up early. Tix on line. Tackling those and Philipsburg together would be easy.

Hi Mari, we do have the Headless Horseman at Horseman's Hollow -- the haunted walk-through experience at Philipsburg Manor. Pictures without flash are allowed.

The house is actually closed even during the day at this time. But at night they do have a band playing there as you wait in line. You walk through a trail and through some out buildings but no actual haunted house. Honestly I was a little disappointed.

no there is not livestock anymore at philipsburg manor and I was told by the staff at the vistor center that it cost Historic Hudson Valley a lot of money to up keep them on the property and had became unsustainable and I was also told that they have sheep and alpacas for the month of april for their sheep to shawl festival and horses for horseman's hollow

Definitely call the numbers listed in the previous answer. I just wanted to note that the season for The Manor is May 1 to November 13, 2016. I don't know about the gift shop, but you will not be able to tour The Manor until the spring of 2017.

I believe tickets are needed to walk grounds as the grounds are part of the tour. The tickets can be purchased right across bridge in the gift shop. Might I suggest driving south from the manor to the Lyndhurst manor not far away.. Lyndhurst’s 67 acres are free to pedestrians accessing the grounds via the Old Croton Aqueduct State Park.
