Wonderful house and history. Loved walking through the house as nothing has changed. We were looking forward to walking through the gardens as displayed on the web page, but they are a dying unkept mess, very disappointing. A sad state for a remarkable home .

This was a goldfields villa house (Indian bungalow style) and garden, named by its subsequent Hungarian owner. The same family occupied it for 118 years and their furniture and belongings are still there. Unfortunately it was not open for self guided tours inside. So we opted for the fair in the garden which has retained the character of the nineteenth century. On this day they were holding a Traditional Arts Fair. But the garden was a lot more interesting.

Have always wanted to see Buda the historic home that has been in a family for well over 100 years. The home itself and history behind it about the famiy that lived there was not disappointing. A very talented family especially the father and daughters living there, 5 not married but creative in their own right. My only disappontment was the garden definately needs attention and could be improved.

Historic House whose interiors can be viewed on a daily basis at the agreed opening times. Groups have to make advance bookings.

Buda is a wonderful home with an interesting history. There is an amazing display of historical artefacts, beautiful ornaments & silverware owned by the family who lived there for many years. Other exhibits often shown. The volunteers are very generous with their time & information.

Much of the house is accessible and we were given a good insight into the history of the house and family by 2 separate volunteers.
There are good descriptions in all the open rooms of their past use.
The gardens are expansive and probably in need of a little bit of love.

What a remarkable old house with a remarkable history. It was lovely to learn about the family that lived here and that all the furniture etc is legitimate. The lady that gave us the spiel on the place was very knowledgeable. Worth a visit!

The house was closed due to Covid19 but the wonderful gardens were only $5 to enter. The gardens are well laid out although there are some sloped places the might be difficult for a wheelchair. Take your time to explore - it’s worth it

We would have loved to have had a look through the house, just one more thing that wasn't open and not sure why. Anyway the gardens were stunning and we spent a bit of time wondering up and down the whole, large, area. We paid $5 per person for the gardens and though it was good value. The gardens are spectacular and we peeped in the windows of the house. We wanted to support this project so purchased some of their goods on the way out.

Sorry I've been away and didn't see your question in time. But if you're there now and checking TripAdvisor, then the answer is 'yes' it's worth a visit. This was the home of an extremely interesting family and the presentation is great. I can't remember the cost, but I don't think it was high.
