My family went for the Christmas event at the end of November. There were crafts, songs, cookie decorating, hot cocoa, and a visit from Anne. We got the chance to tour the house, hike the haunted woods, and learn more about Green Gables. My family loved seeing the house and seeing the book come to life.
The disappointment came with the gift shop. Apparently it's run by a 3rd party and it was closed. The nearest Anne gift shop is in Charlottetown, 45 minutes away. If you're hosting a big event with lot's of people, then you talk to your 3rd party and open up the gift shop! Even if you don't have every single item available since it's the end of the season, you still open up the gift shop and earn a bit of money. Instead, I sat in the parking lot and ordered Anne of Green gables stuff off of Amazon and it was delivered by the time I got home from my vacation. I didn't support your business and that doesn't seem right. I would have preferred to purchase from you directly.

I was saving my 1000th review for something special - Finally checked off a bucket list travel item - Green Gables!! I’ve had this spot on my list ever since I read the Anne of Green Gables novels when I was a young girl - and even more so since watching Anne with an E!! I loved the show so much I read all the books again afterwards lol.
This actual homestead belonged to cousins of Lucy Maud Montgomery - author of all the Anne books - but it was her inspiration for the Anne universe and they’ve done a beautiful job decorating the inside to look just how I imagined it to look from the stories lol!
LM Montgomery was one of the few female Victorian writers that found huge success in her work while still alive. Her homestead and gravesite are nearby and also definitely worth a visit - especially if you’re a fan! She was quite an accomplished lady and had an interesting life.
A lifelong dream location visited and it was more than I could’ve imagined!! I got to see Anne’s bedroom, walk through the Haunted Wood, and they even sell Raspberry Cordial haha!! There are several walking trails on the grounds and I wish I had time to explore more bc they were lovely.
It’s easy to find, prices are very reasonable, staff are all very friendly, and there’s lots to see apart from the house - they have a nice museum and LM Montgomery’s gravesite and actual homestead are within easy walking distance but also a very quick drive.
Pro Tip: entrance to LM Montgomery’s homestead is cheaper if you buy it in the combo ticket with Green Gables and you can buy both here.
They also have a little cafe here selling mostly pastries and coffee. Plenty of parking and clean restrooms. This stop is a favorite with the giant tour buses so bring your patience.

Very interesting place to visit with a lot of information on Lucy Maud Montgomery. There is a visitors center, the original home and gardens to explore. There is also a walking trail, cafe and gift shop.

Very nicely done museum and grounds. You can tour the house, barn, gardens and grounds. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

One of the best visitors centers at a museum we have ever seen - the intro to Anne and Lucy and Green Gables in general was beautifully and clearly presented. The grounds and gardens are all fully accessible - except the house itself - but everywhere else my daughter was able to roll around in her wheelchair. This was a great stop for our family!

If you love reading Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anee of Green Gables series, you will thoroughly enjoy visiting Green Gables. We took the path that leads through "the Haunted Forest" about a 2 mile hike. Could have gone the quicker route but so enjoyed the walk. Visted Montgomery Park along the hike to learn some history of the founding of Cavenidh,

We drove up and was all that I had hoped it would be. We could see the duck pond, the green gabled barn and house. Even in the rain, it was delightful.

The site is well maintained, the house is representative of a time and well maintained and I enjoyed the part about Lucy Maud Montgomery at the reception.

We visited Green Gables exploring the house and grounds. My wife in particular loved seeing the house that had been reconstructed to appear as it did in the TV series and books. The walk through the woods to L.M. Montgomery’s childhood homesite is well worth it. The forest itself was inspiration for some of the books. This was a great place visit and a must-see on PEI!

Having read Anne of Green Gables, this was on our must see list. The site is small consisting of the house and a small visitors center focusing on the author. We were there less than an hout. I expected more. The assumption is that you have read the book. My husband would have liked a summary of the book plot before touring the house.

I agree with those who said 1-2 hours really depends how big a fan you are. Gives you ample time to visit all the building, see Anne and do the walks.

Yeah, 7.80 or 6.55 for seniors, kids free. But it’s CN$ so cheaper in US$. Check dates it’s seasonal for general admission

It is a self guided tour. Tickets are not free but were free to youth in 2017/18. I think an adult ticket is $8.00. Just show up when you want.

No, no reservation needed. There is an entry fee,and other things to see besides the house. We were there in shoulder season ( Sept./Oct.) and it was still fairly busy, but no lineup to enter the house. I could see it being a bit of a crush during the summer, however. It does not take long to go through the house- most people move along at a good rate.

I assume it might still be open we were only there a couple of weeks ago
But a lot of things do shut down at labour day
I'd try and call them if I were you but my guess would be yes have fun if u do go
