We visited the monastery yesterday not realising it was Budh Purnima .. a better day we couldn’t have chosen.
We arrived just before midday and were delighted to see monks of all ages moving about busily some carrying plates filled with food, some carrying thali’s with portioned varieties of delicious looking food, some carrying buckets of food …. Lots of bustle yet all done quietly and with purpose.
We went up to the prayer hall from the side, up the ramp as my husband has recently undergone a hip replacement surgery. He still managed to walk up the main stairs up to the hall, albeit with a supporting hand.
Once upstairs, the quiet of the hall greets you and one feels immediately humbled.
There were a number of families, some sitting on the mattresses quietly, others moving around and some, like us, standing still in contemplation.
We left a donation in the box and took a couple of photographs and retraced our steps down to where we’d left our footwear.
Before we knew it, a gentle young monk came up to us with a beautiful smile and asked us whether we would life to sit and have a drink and something to eat … Ah … we saw a few tables where a number of the families from the prayer room were seated and greeting each other .. some eating a meal, others only a drink served by the monks.
With regret, we had to decline the kind offer as we’d had a late breakfast.
We went up to the monastery from the Kullu side and while most of the road is great, there is ONE really bad patch … hopefully that gets sorted out soon.
We are very glad we went and basked in the positive aura of the monastery and people around.

If you go to Manali via Naggar road, you can stop at this place for a quick visit. The monastery is just beside the main road, so you don't need to take a detour. It's a calm place with nice surroundings.

This monastery has an adjoining school and accommodation for the management and the students. The little monks in the making were seen having a fun time when we stepped in the monastery. The monastery is very peaceful and provides a scenic beauty for eyes and camera.

The place is beautiful and falls on Kullu to Manali road which is via naggar. Like all monasteries this one too is very well kept and gives you a good break from the usual hiking/trekking/eating/shopping. They have a small shop inside the monastery.

This is a big place I had seen as a monastery with adjoint school,hostel,accomodation,management facility. It took me quite sometime to see the huge manifestations of arts in the form of Fresco painting,Thang Ka painting,idol sculpture,model prototype architecture.Also beautiful capacity and yet so much else too.I loved this place.Great Buddhist creations.

From Manali we traveled to this monastery. From the main road when you enter it is slightly Sloppy . You have to go upstairs approx. 50 stairs to reach the main area . remove your shoes and worship inside . You can donate also . take a break spend some time doing meditation .Good scenic view from the monastery .

This monastery surrounded by the mighty Himalayan mountains is located on a hilltop at the Kullu Manali highway. This monastery is not only a picturesque delight but also a very serene place to be at to revive your inner peace. From the chirping of the birds and whispering of the winds from the distant mountains to the prayer chants sung in unison accompanied by cymbels, bells and drums....the aura and feel of this place is so positive and calming to the soul.
