Little pricey but the house is really interesting with quite the history. Grounds are nice for a short walk, they are not particularly big. Very nice café although just had coffee and scones however the food being served did look good. Again a little pricey.

A lovely visit to this beautiful family house. Our guide Linda was brilliant and kept everyone captivated. Thought the Cafe menu was quite limited and pricey. We would have ordered food as well as drinks but unfortunately the soup and quiche choice were not to our taste.

Very interesting house brought to life by the very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We were a bit disappointed with the cafe, had the soup and half sandwich option, soup luke warm and very sparsely filled half sandwich, they were busy so perhaps we were unlucky. Enjoyed our visit.

Great day out for party of 27. Prebooked tour of Hall, met in the hall by the owner, 2 guides showed us around the ground floor, they were excellent, knowledgeable and funny. Made for a great tour.
This was followed by Xmas lunch in the cafe which was excellent.
All in all a great visit and made to feel very welcome

10 of us visited Browsholme Hall today and what a fabulous day to visit - blue skies, leaves on the turn and some autumnal sun. We picked up our guide at 11.30am in front of the hall and then it began! The hall is amazing - jammed with fabulous furniture, decor and artefacts from different eras and set in stunning gardens and grounds. However the icing on the cake had to be Linda (Campbell) our guide. From her opening sentence we knew we were in for a treat. She delivered a full history of Browsholme but it was the way she told it. It was obvious that she respected the hall and family but by using her fantastic sense of dry and dead pan humour she ensured that everyone was riveted during the 1 hour tour. Browsholme and Linda are a must!

My husband, our friend and myself decided to visit Browsholme (pronounced Brewzum) Hall from South Cumbria. It is out in the middle of nowhere but well worth the visit.
We loved that it was fairly busy but not too much so, which made it a joy to walk around (this was in early September).
The small but lovely cafe is really good and the staff are excellent and very welcoming.
The tour around the hall was interesting, informal and hilarious in equal measures.
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO BOOK A TABLE FOR LUNCH because it is very small and otherwise it is unlikely you would find a table. The lunch menu is small but good with a couple of daily specials.
After our lunch we did the circular walk around the lake and returned via the lily pond. It was a very hot day so by then we were exhausted. I would dearly have loved to have had the time to walk up to the beautiful gates, through the woods and the parts of the garden we didn't have time to see. Maybe another visit will be called for.
It would be a pleasant day out anyway but it is made a GRAND DAY OUT by the excellent staff and volunteers.

A ribble valley gem, the Cartshed T room open every Tuesday & Wednesday till October. Home cooked savoury food & the most delicious homemade cakes/scones. The staff are so friendly & attentive nothing is too much trouble. Booking a table before you visit is recommended as it’s so busy. The hall & gardens are also open on the T room days doing 11.30am & 1.30pm guided tours, again booking is advisable by ringing the house before your visit. Wonderful place & would recommend it 100%

Visited the tearoom in June - too late this time for the hall and gardens but we will be back!

We spent a lovely few hours here this morning .We we’re given a fantastic tour round not being a stately home fan l thoroughly enjoyed this as did our friends , l found it so interesting and informative so thank you .
We spent some time walking round the grounds and then ended up back at the tea room ,again really friendly staff and lovely coffee scones and cake .

The House is very impressive and the grounds beautiful. A special mention goes to the cafe, light lunches, tea ,coffee (in a cafetiere !!) cakes, scones all delicious , good prices and the staff just lovely. Sadly the guided tour of the house was a disappointment. The guide was five minutes late, spent another five minutes talking to a staff member and ignoring those of us waiting outside the Hall . She then proceeded to talk for fifteen minutes (without an apology for lateness) keeping us standing outside in blazing sunshine and a temperature of 28 degrees. Once inside, the rooms were well worth seeing but the commentary was very disjointed, a series of anecdotes which left me with no clear timeline of the house and owners ,every sentence ending with what I can only describe as a raucous giggle which quickly became very irritating. My friend and I visit a lot of historic houses and take a real interest so maybe I was out of sync with the tone of the tour but I would have much preferred a free flow arrangement with information boards available in each room.

I'm sorry that our friendly approach to guiding wasn't for you. Our guides are all volunteers and we're grateful when our staff take time to acknowledge their contribution to Browsholme. As Browsholme is a family home, we much prefer the personal approach rather than the hugely impersonal and unattractive story boards seen in many of the more municipal houses. AP
