Excellent guides who brought everything to life. The house has been left exactly as it was. Very interesting.

It's not the usual massive national trust property, but it's very interesting. Preserved from 1923, everything is as the family left it. The guides are very knowledgable and bring it to life. You can also do a walk into Worksop, which is also worthwhile.

Be aware that upon arrival they ask you to remove your bag and either go back to the car park to put it away or put it in their storage. I didn't like this idea for numerous reasons. Upon walking around it's not evident that you'd damage anything at all with a bag. They should review this rule.
The guide starts off with a little talk then it's self guided.
The house is up many levels of stairs. I found it to be interesting and worth a visit. The older lady downstairs was lovely, very welcoming, giving us lots of info and asking if we had questions.
Bit pricey if you're not NT members.

As they were short of volunteers, we were left to look around the house by ourselves. It was dark, dingy and quite unappealing. The decor was faded beyond recognition, the windows were rotting and the main bedroom ceiling clearly damaged by damp; Difficult to assess the other rooms as they were so dark we could hardly make out any of the details and 2 of the areas were just piles of clutter. It was the 3rd NT property I had visited in 3 weeks and definately the worst. We were only there for 40 minutes.

Loved this as we have a house of a similar period so was fantastic to see what it would have been like in the 20s. Best NT property we've been to. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Can't recommend highly enough if you're interested in vintage decor.

A small but very interesting property well presented by NT. very good guides to give you the initial information. Good car park opposite the property. Highly recommended

Good car park and toilet facilities, checked in by a very pleasant young man and shown round by a very friendly, knowledgeable guide. Enjoyed looking around but disappointed that there was nowhere to sit down, let alone anywhere you could buy refreshments.
Very interesting place to look around but, although we found our tour excellent it was over far too quickly.

This was really good. Had to book a timed slot online. Had to use the sat nav to find it. Managed to park easily. A guide gave us a talk firstly. She was really informative and had known adult Mr Straw when she was a child. The house is like stepping back in time. A real eye opener. I can’t describe it very well really. You think you’ll have seen it all before in museums etc but you really haven’t. It’s definitely a one off and well worth a trip.

We had a brilliant time at Mr Straws House. Lovely staff and volunteers. Covid precautions are well organised with staggered entry times and a one way route around the house and garden. After a short introduction we were free to wander around ourselves! We felt very safe. After an interesting short introduction outside went inside. There was a guide in the house to answer questions who gave some fascinating snippets of information. Thank you Peter and Jill!
The house is a divine time capsule and feels like the family could just walk in at any moment, catching you nosing around their home.
There is a small shop area in reception and toilets are available. Very convenient parking is opposite the house.
