We were staying at the Omni resort for our 40th anniversary(highly recommend) and we love to sight see. We found this gem and we were lucky that it was a beautiful day and there were many staff representing various characters from the colonial times. Some of the staff would walk and mingle and tell their stories(some were very lively)The blacksmith was very chatty with us and we had a nice conversation about our travels. We would highly recommend coming here.

Went to the village during their living history days. There are volunteers there providing you with demonstrations, history of the buildings, and the people that lived in them. So much to see. There were even some things that you could participate in such as candle making and tin punching. Cookies in the bakery are only $1 a piece and are very tasty.

This site is only open Thursday-Sunday, so we visited on a Thursday. There are a good number of buildings on site, but only 4 of them had volunteers in them...the rest were empty and you needed to click on a QR Code to watch/listen to a YouTube video to learn about the building. The most interesting building had was the blacksmith workshop - the volunteer in there was really chatty and willing to answer questions. He was melting some tin to make connection between a knife and its handle. We were able to watch him pour it, and he showed us what the initial result was - he said he will smooth it out & it will look great. The church building was beautiful and seems to be well maintained, but that can't be said for most of the buildings. We did learn some things we didn't know before, but I'm not sure I would recommend it to anyone else.

Went on a Sunday in May. A couple of buildings had demonstrators in them (Biddle House, Blacksmith, Candle). Almost all buildings were open. Had a unique 8 sides school house. Farm with chickens/horse.
Overall, a really good family attraction that does not break the bank. Particularly good if you are driving the PA Turnpike and want to get out and stretch your legs.

Went for Candlelight Christmas with two adults, a 3 year old, a 5 year old, a 7 year old, an 8 year old and a 10 year old.
Not cheap!
Santa was there with free photos. He didn't chat with the kids though, nor ask them what they wanted for Christmas.
Cookies for sale and photo opportunities in the lobby.
They have handouts, but NO MAP.
THEY NEED A MAP with the cabins numbered, with a simple description of what time period the house is, and what the theme is.
For example- House #1- Civil War- Tin maker.
We were all just walking in the dark and had no idea what to expect as we had never been there before.
Some people talked really well and had a lovely script.
Others did not.
Everyone needs to have a 3-5 minutes speech in my opinion.
Like the toy maker that said, "I guess I could be Santa's elf, though I bet some of them are up to no good. I'm carving a mushroom. Maybe it's a magic mushroom. You know what kids are into today. Well maybe I'll make a person. Until the head breaks off." WE LEFT THAT CABUIN QUICKLY!
The school teachers were both good. The one with the multiple single desks was FANTASTIC!
The apothecary and tanner/trapper were also really good!
The church was nice with carolers.... but I wish they would have suggested that the visitors join in with the singing.
One fire near the church with a group of men in costume standing by it. The Civil War guy was great at informing us about Old Bedford Village and offering suggestions for the night. He also suggested we get cookies because they were yummy.
But, there needs to be a fire on the other ends, too. It got cold.
Needs to be more than just one set of bathroom by the church and one set in the visitor center. We got half way around, kids had to use the bathroom and we had to backtrack.
We were there for 2 hours and then left after our midway bathroom break. Too much for the 3 year old.
The area with the animals needs more lighting.
It needs to be made clear which cabins are with the food. Know that none of the food is free.
I saw on Facebook that admission included a free cookie and free cup of hot cocoa. However, that was not the case. Everything cost money. Chocolate chip cookie was tasty. Gingerbread man was good, but not that he is spicy.
I enjoyed my time there... but I do not think I'll be back. Especially not with the children. However, with those few suggestions- this place could be AWESOME!
The cabins with two doors were great. In one, out another. But those weren't labeled that way.
Other cabins were packed and people were in and out.
If scripts were made. It would be nice to have groups of people (led by a reenactor) that could lead groups around to each cabin on a 3-5 minute schedule. It would keep things moving and the guide could answer the groups questions.

We have been coming here for 3 years now with the grand kids! We spend about 3 hours as we visit every house, take part in all the provided activities and just have a wonderful time. Everyone associated here is so welcoming, polite and very nice. The grand kids love the hunt for letters on the bottom of the pumpkins! So much to do while here, its a great way to wander and have a leisurely afternoon! See you next year!

It was a worth while stop on our way home. All the employees were friendly and helpful. Many old homes from the 1800s. Some of the buildings had someone to explain things. Had a pottery and broom maker.

There are many exhibits. Some have live re-enactments. There are You Tube videos at each exhibit. The cost is very reasonable.

Old Bedford V
Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania:
Hello!
We are handicapped accessible. All of our buildings have ramps to enter. The paths around the village are crushed gravel, but are packed and firm. We unfortunately do not have wheelchairs to provide however. Please see our Facebook page for photos of the facilities that could help clarify further! Thank you for your interest!
How much is it for 1 adult and 1 child to get in ?
Old Bedford V
Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania:
It depends on the age of the child, but between $10 & $15. Students ages 6 - 18 are $5, and children 5 and under are free!
How long would the average person spend at old bedford village?
Karen M
Crofton, MD23 đóng góp
Depends on if you are with children who are really interested in how people lived in colonial times. Of course, a big draw is the two resident draft horses, one a cream Belgian, the other a Grey Percheron. You might spend a half an hour, or entire days there.

I knew some Mocks growing up. And one was a Harry Mock. Very common name. My daughter is going our family tree and I will see if we have any connections. Try the Chestnut Ridge High School for Mocks. The towns would be New Paris, Fishertown, Alum Bank and Schellsburg. Charles Cuppett was the postmaster and his son still lives in the area. Try the post offices. They maybe able to help. Also. The Bedford Gazette.

We spent about 2 hours. There are small snacks, sodas, candy in the post office (cash-only, honor-system) and some food at the tavern (hot dogs and a few other sandwich-type items). There are GREAT areas for picnics, but I don't know if you can bring food in. It is a very short walk back to the parking lot, though, so going back to the car to eat would be fairly easy. There were reenactors in some buildings -- biddle house, whitesmith, blacksmith, candle maker and I think a few morexpensive-- but not every building. Hope that helps!
Is it free to roam around the town? Are you open year round?
Old Bedford V
Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania:
Hello, Dave!
