Clean, smallish side, can do in just a couple hours. But lots of animals to see. The grandchildren loved it there! Good for families.

I’ve grew up 15 minutes from here and have countless memories of the animals from visiting as a kid. Some of the reviews I’ve seen about poor facilities are completely false. I have been behind the scenes many many times doing camps as a kid and even to the point of considering a job. The facilities are older, but well kept. All staff absolutely love the animals and jobs and take great care of them. The animals know it too, some of the ones you can be in the enclosure with know when a certain keeper comes around. The facilities may look “dirty” but they are cleaned often, they are animals, things get dirty. It may be a small, older zoo but that does not mean the animals aren’t being taken care of like some of the reviews. People come 1 time and judge. I’ve had visits where it’s cold and the animals aren’t inside keeping warm and you don’t see much, however that is a small zoo. If you constantly want to see animals go to a bigger zoo where they have 5+ animals per exhibit. The poor reviews about its condition are completely false and this is an extremely underrated zoo!

I LOVE zoos, aquariums, nature preserves, etc. So it pains me to write this poor review of the very underwhelming Zoo America. It has the feel of an old, roadside animal attraction from the 70's, or urban scenes from postapocalyptic films. Is anyone in charge paying attention to the condition of this facility? Frankly, you feel as if you're walking through a space that's about to be closed down. So much was unkept, empty, poorly designed, or in desperate need of a makeover. I feel for these animals, and cannot imagine how this place remains open.

My significant other and I were enjoying Hersheypark and then we suddenly noticed the Entrance to ZooAmerica. It looked both mysterious and tempting.
It was complimentary, so that was hard to pass up! We crossed a bridge to get to a building, in which we went through to get outside again. It was a weird concept, but it eventually worked out.
The first thing we encountered was the Southern Magnolia. It was also listed as a Magnolia Grandiflora. It seemed odd to us, but we’re from Indiana. I liked it.
The Roseate Spoonbill was pink and beautiful. I wish I could have purchased one.
The Southern Painted Turtle was a cool one! It was listed as Frida.
The American Alligator was close and definitely looked violent. I enjoyed that exhibit.
The Thick-Billed Parrot was vibrant. It seemed like it could have been friends with the Roseate Spoonbill.
The Burrowing Owl was pretty. It definitely seemed calm in the display.
The Blue Spiny Lizard and Gila Monster exhibit was interesting. I definitely wouldn’t want to mess with either of them!
The Saguaro Cactus was a new sight to see. It almost looked awkward to be in this place, but it was awesome.
The Nine-Banded Armadillo display was small and to the point. I thought it was too small, though.
The Barn Owl was another pretty Owl. I enjoyed viewing it.
The Red-Tailed Hawk was close to that and looked like it was up to no good.
The Bobcat was a different sight. It seemed very relaxed.
The Black Bear exhibit was amazing. It was so cool to admire them from afar!
The American Elk seemed far away. I wish I could have seen them a bit closer.
The Mountain Lion display was a must. It was nice to see one!
The Snowy Owl exhibit was a great stop. I adored this beautiful owl!
The White-Tailed Deer and Wild Turkey display was pretty big. The Deer were gorgeous. Each Turkey seemed to mind their business.
The Bald Eagle exhibit was decent at first, but it seemed that they didn’t have enough room in there.
The Peregrine Falcon display was our next stop. The Falcon sure did seem fierce.
The Gray Wolf exhibit was our last stop and ended up being my favorite. They were beautiful. They deserved to be in more space.
The service was okay. There weren’t many employees here it seemed. It was unfortunate to not see the animals being catered to constantly. That was my biggest turn off.
Overall, I’m glad I came here to see what it was all about. I loved all of the animals that I got to see, but some needed more space in my opinion. Maybe I’ll come back someday.

While the makeshift zoo serves its purpose of educating the public about animals, it falls short of the standard zoo experience. Visitors may find it lacking compared to their expectations of a traditional zoo, but it still offers valuable educational opportunities.

We hardly saw any animals and the ones we did see are sad and lonely. It is a pretty walk. I would not pay for this and only went because it was a part of the park ticket.

With the emergence of technology and our ability to learn about animals through video, multimedia - zoos are passé. Out of touch with the rhythm of life. We Americans spend billions each year on our pets. Yet, we’re ok with bigger and more complex animals being locked in to small spaces, without their peers/community. This zoo had some pretty stressed samples…in tight quarters. We thought this was a sanctuary…otherwise, would not have supported this venue.

ZooAmerica is depressing. The majority of the animals have dirty and small enclosures. The cat in the nocturnal section was clearly distressed, pacing back and forth in its tiny enclosure. I have not been able to stop thinking about these poor animals and their conditions.
I will never go back. This place should be closed and the animals should be taken to a sanctuary that can offer proper care and adequate space.

A complete rip off. Tiny, takes an hour if you walk slow and read everything. Most exhibits only include one animal, which for herd or pack animals is awful. The enclosures are mostly really small with no enrichment. Very depressing. The wolf looked like it was dead. The nocturnal building stunk of urine and feces, revolting. This place should be closed or reimagined. Make it a rehabilitation center or an actual education center, since the one education building was closed. So many things could be done with the space. This is an embarrassment!! The town of Hershey needs to shut this place down.

First, if you have never gone to a zoo, then go. However, don’t expect it to be an actual large zoo. It is nice to walk thru and free with your park passes. If you have mobility issues, skip it

It is free with your Hershey park admission. I am not sure if they sell separate admission.

Is there a place to eat a picnic lunch that we bring in?
Đã viết vào 10 tháng 5, 2019
yes there is an area where you can eat a picnic lunch with tables. I t is a small zoo perfect for little ones and easy to get around. there are a couple of indoor areas and the rest is outdoors.

Is it realistic to do both the Park and Zoo the same day in July - we'll have two 5 year olds
Đã viết vào 15 tháng 3, 2018
Most people do the zoo the same day as the park because it's included with admission. It's a small zoo that takes an hour or so to complete.

How much time should we allow to see this zoo? Is it an easy walk?
We both use a cane (sometimes) and the small zoo is appealing.

Dear Mister B,
ZooAmerica is an 11 acre North American Wildlife Zoo. We recommend allowing at least an hour to enjoy all of the exhibits. The zoo is completely accessible, however there are hills. We have resting areas and benches throughout the zoo.
Thank you for your interest in visiting us at ZooAmerica and we hope to see you soon.

Is the zoo out doors? Or in doors? I see a lot of people who visited during the winter, we have 2 small children 9months and 2yrs old as well as 3 older children. Would we need to come bundled up in hats scarves mittens...or is some of it enclosed?
Đã viết vào 21 tháng 1, 2017
Like all zoos it has indoor and outdoor animal enclosures.

Good morning got one question if the park is closed where you park to go to just the zoo look at all things about parking and just seen the big are at the beginning of the park thank you for your time have a HERSHEY PARK HAPPY DAY.

The parking lot for the zoo is on route 743. If leaving the park turn right and go to the light beside Lighting Racer. If you pass the Red Robin you've gone to far. Go down that road until you see the sign for the parking lot, if you pass the old factory site you've gone to far.
