Simply put, if you are visiting Hershey and JUST go to the amusement area, Chocolate World, etc. (all of which are great), you're still missing out on one of the BEST entertainment values anywhere. I've been to numerous shows here and have failed to rate them (dopey me), but these talented men and women deserve even a higher rating than five stars. The variety of music they're capable of producing, from classic to pop, is incredible. The orchestra is professional in stature, while volunteer in reality. In other words, these people aren't even paid! Still, they're as strong as any Broadway orchestra or the Boston Pops, for example,
Also, the talent is being accompanied by performers on stage, as in Jesus Christ, Superstar last season, the Cirque de Soleil, or the illusionist later this season. Every performance, however, even with just the orchestra, is well worth the very inexpensive ticket price.
The performances are held in the Hershey Theatre, an iconic building in itself, and that theatre is very close to other venues in Hershey, along with wonderful restaurants. Honestly, enjoy a wonderful matinee or evening performance when you visit, and if you live there, for goodness sake, GO!

I will be in Hershey in the fall and would like to hear this marvelous orchestra but the web site isn't clear on anything. Links are broken or don't exist. There is virtually no calendar for future events. I can't even tell if anything is happening in the fall. Hoping someone with the symphony will see this post and do something about it so we can all make plans to enjoy what appears to be a wonderful show(s).

Saw an amazing movie based musical performance at the Hershey theater yesterday. This Symphony is phenomenal. They also try to keep their ticket prices low so more people can enjoy the fine art of music.

Not your typical small town Orchestra

It was an awesome holiday treat. It was the first ever sold out show for the orchestra and we were happy to be there. The conductor was so knowledgeable and explained each piece before it was played. It was a fun atmosphere and the kids enjoyed it and learned something in the process. Great time.

Excellent Holiday Concert

The Hershey Symphony put on an excellent show for their first-ever sold out performance. The playlist selection was spot on, containing classical "oldies" from Handel and Tchaikovsky, along with more modern classics, like Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride. The concert also included guest performers. The local winner of the symphony's scholarship contest performed with the orchestra. The HSO Festival string section, consisting of middle and high school students also performed on four songs. This was my first HSO concert, and their level of playing has encouraged me to purchase tickets for future concerts.

Fantastic experience--The Piano Men

we went to a special Symphony event called The Piano Men. The music of Billy Joel and Elton John with the Symphony. It was a truly memorable experience. Beautiful venue. We'll be back!

Wonderful Theater and Orchestra

This is one of the best volunteer orchestras I've seen. I saw their performance last night - Piano Men: The Music of Elton and Billy. What a wonderful blend of pop music with orchestra infusion. The theater itself is a lovely building, with top notch acoustics. The rows are very close, though, so you will have to climb over people or have them stand to get to your seat but the seats themselves are very comfortable. They have quite a refreshment stand but the lines are long at intermission of course. I highly recommend this - if you live in the area or close buy, consider buying a season pass to one of their series. It's a bargain. Parking is close by and free.

Nice Christmas concert

Saw them in the lovely Hershey Theater- nice Christmas concert, but also wonderful other concerts, big band series always a hit.
