Excellent museum with much to see and do

Small museum, but we still spent over 4 hours here. After viewing the timeline exhibits, we did the Lancaster and Vulcan cockpit tours which were interesting and well presented by friendly staff. Then did the VR Lancaster bombing raid which was amazing. A lecture on Vulcan history was then attended which was well presented by an ex Vulcan pilot and very interesting.

Clean and reasonable cafe and spotless toilets.
Highly recommended.

Use postcode on website for satnav, not Google maps search.

Brilliant Aviation Museum

I cannot rate this place highly enough.

I visit a lot of aviation museums with my son and the staff here were absolutely brilliant.

Lots of Avro specific stuff , as you might imagine from the name, really well laid out, lots of cockpits to visit.

We will be back.

A wonderful find and such a knowledgeable and friendly team of volunteers. A step back in time for my husband who flew in a couple of the planes. The team could not have been more engaged and engaging. This is a unique aviation museum and we wish them every success with their exciting future plans.

A really good day out

Found this place by accident and didn't even know it existed but so glad I did.
It can be a little awkward to find but there is even dashcam footage on the website which is a great idea.
The place and staff are excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, we did the vulcan, Lancaster and nimrod tour, all excellent and interesting, wife did the virtual reality raid which she said was very good and she also had a go at the flight simulator which she really enjoyed, didn't end well for the plane though!!!.
Nice coffee and a good enjoyable day.
Would recommend for young and old and everyone in between.

Rainy day perfection

As storms raged and flood warnings arose across Manchester we headed for the Avro Heritage museum. Reviews read found it terrific, interesting and friendly staff, it was all those and more.
It is at the back of a huge development and strange to find. The Vulcan was a fantastic first sight and was a tremendous indication of the interest to come.
Cockpit talks, full story boards and numerous models were just the start.
The virtual reality telling of a Lancaster raid was mind blowing and humbling. The spitfire flight simulator was so much fun.
The volunteers throughout were so informative and friendly that it truly improved the visit.

A fantastic trip to the Avro Heritage Museum today with my Mum, all staff friendly and helpful. Both tour guides knowledgable and an interesting tour on both the Vulcan and Lancaster. Definitely will come back here in the future

Well worth a visit

Very difficult to find, you need to drive through a large new build housing estate - get directions and do not follow Google Maps! It looks small when you arrive but there is lots to see and the staff are very helpful. There is a Vulcan outside but that is the only whole plane. I did the cockpit tours of the Lancaster and Vulcan both were really interesting and I'd recommend them. There is a virtual reality headset experience of a Lancaster raid which is brilliantly done and illustrates how scary it would have been. Interesting to follow the development of the Avro company on the site.

Fantastic trip out

I had such a fantastic time today at the museum. Huge thanks to all of the staff who were all so passionate and informative about everything that was displayed ! We specifically enjoyed learning about the Lancaster bomber which we had no prior knowledge of but thanks to the informative staff we have learned loads about! I can't tell you how great the staff are, there wasn't one member of staff that didn't interact with us and have some interesting information to share, having people so passionate working there really adds to the value of the museum. Thanks for a great day!

This museum is an absolute wonder. It packs so much to see and so many opportunities into a relatively small space. From the Vulcan outside, the cockpit tours (Vulcan, Lancaster, Nimrod, Vickers), the WW2 virtual reality raid, flight simulators etc, this small space punches well above its weight. There is free parking right outside and it’s easily accessible for prams and wheelchairs. There is a lift up to the 1st floor cafe which serves really good coffee. What really elevates this place though are the volunteers. Everyone we met couldn’t have been more lovely. They were all immensely knowledgeable and only too happy to share their amazing stories and experiences. We can’t recommended this place enough. We’ll definitely come back again and again

There’s so much to do here! We didn’t leave enough time, plenty of tours led by enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgable volunteers. Would definitely recommend booking in for the tours and allowing a whole day to make the most of the exhibits and the knowledge available! There’s a café on site so no need for a packed lunch, small additional charge for some of the tours but well worth it!
